An old favorite
topic on another board
was a haiku thread.

Haikus can be fun,
serious, or humorous.
Let's get creative.

Respond back in five-
seven-five. Find your haiku
muse and start writing.

I am terrible
at coming up with haiku,
but for you, I'll try.

Haiku is not hard.
Don't be shy. Pull out a pen
and give it a try!

Here's an example
of a silly haiku (a
lighthearted attempt):

Moonlight flirting with
tree tops. The sound of rustling.
Zombies in the woods.

Chest left of center
Crimson stain wetly spreading
Leaking fountain pen.

Nighttime couch dog pile;
fog horns and sea lions trail in
on the cool sea breeze.

As if I have time.
You mock me! You give me grief!!
Nonetheless, it is.

Nonetheless it is,
or is it not? Be that as
it may, it may not.

Two pens! They are here,
but the better is the worse
(as well, the reverse).

I kind of sort of
forgot all about this thread.
I'll zombify it.

I have to wonder.
If a zombie had a pen
Would it write with it?

O, baconator,
Gross me out with the mayo,
Retching with delight!

Looks like I started something. Glad the Mrs. doesn't read this forum.

oops, please ignore my previous post, it is rude, uncalled for, and of improper form.

I guess my low haiku shows, when I have to resort to the Irish form.

A verse with set syllables.
Why do we like it?
