The other day I found a book at the library that looked interesting. Mastering Calligraphy: The Complete Guide to Hand Lettering by Gaye Godfrey-Nicholls. I don't see myself getting too much into lettering, but since I unwittingly bought a calligraphy pen last week (Sheaffer Viewpoint, F nib), I figured that learning italic would be a nice change.

Here is tonight's progress.

That's certainly impressive for a first attempt - certainly better than mine!

Excellent start. Italic seems to come natural to you.

Very nice, I'm just starting to learn calligraphy myself and started with italic nowhere near as good as yours, I seem to have real problems with the a's and d's but I'll keep trying. Good luck with yours.

C'mon, let's see more.

I always love to follow pen strokes in my mind when I see written examples.
