I had never filled a cartridge before and made a mess but it is FUN!

Always remember and never forget, we are laughing with you -- not at you -- for as you may have guessed -- you are not the first, nor the last!

LOL

Keep having fun!

I've only tried to fill a cartridge once and that was with water to clean it before putting a different ink in. It drove me crazy and I can't imagine ever doing it again. Oh, and by the way, I never did manage to fill the cartridge - life's too short.

Oh yes success at the end of your adventure! Imagine if after the mess you could not stand the ink. The syringe fill of cartridges does work but it can be scary if the hands are not super steady.

Which is why I use plastic pipettes. ;)

I use these and never have issues. http://www.gouletpens.com/Goulet_5ml_Ink_Syringe_Set_p/gpc-inksyringe.htm

*Hold the empty over the sink
*Fill the syringe with water and put it in the empty and flush as fast as you can without spraying.
*Repeat until clean. For me that's usually only a couple of times with most inks.
*Flush the syringe if needed
*fill syringe to just a ml or so with your ink of choice
*put the syringe in so that it almost touched the back of the cartridge
*Slowly push out the ink until the cartridge is almost full
*Put unused ink back in the bottle from the syringe if you want or discard (I don't usually have any left as I generally under-fill a bit)
*Flush the syringe and take apart to dry

Those are good! I have a couple, too. But the reason I use plastic pipettes is that my hands are weak and shaky, and the one-handed easy-squeeze operation makes it better for me.

I use the same method as Heath. Never fails. If you forget to put the needle all the way in the cartridge, that's when you have problems.

I like those as well. The longer of the two gets down into the bottom of pilot carts.

Thank you, Mags - and yes, I love the new ink!

I use a very small funnel to fill my cartridges. Be careful not to pour too fast! ;-P

This is what I use as well and it works great. Except that one time I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and the syringe wasn't in the converter. That is why I always fill over a paper towel. At least it wasn't Baystate Blue.
