I like this pen for its clear plastic feed. Unfortunatley it is also one of my failures. Obviously, it is an old pen. It was an eBay find for around $10 IIRC. According to the seller, it had been restored (just a new sack). Well, it wrote very dry. I tried adjusting the flow as the tines were really closed up. While I was doing this I heard a pop. After examining it closer, I found I had cracked the section. It does not leak but I have not been able to get the pen to write wetter. :(

Circa 1950-1962. "C-flow" feed clear plastic designed to allow the writer to see when the pen needs refilling.
Gold plated "overfeed" designed to keep the nib from drying out when pen is uncapped.

Ah, I'm a sucker for a Burgundy pen!

I have a Wearever Deluxe that I'm inexplicably fond of - it's one of the most finicky pens I own, but when it decides to write, I do like the nib. It was the first vintage pen I ever bought too.

I know I like the look of the pen. I wish I could use it. I really like the funky nib cover and the clear feed. The burgandy color was what caught my eye initially. It was around the same time that I was looking for my red Esterbrook J.

KI, your Wearever Pennant is certainly a handsome fountainpen in the classic sense.
The rich burgandy colour oozes confidence. That gold strip on the nib is very intriguing as is the clear feed section.
Pity about its writing problems. Would a Noodler's Eel ink help any ?

I tried several inks and it is just the nib tines. It is just odd that the tines will not spread. I may try the plier trick.

Maybe that gold bit on the top of nib is holding them together or somehow affecting the ink flow.

It just sits on the nib. You can pull it up with a fingernail.

The section crack can be fixed. A local shop, Dromgoole's in Houston, has explained a process repairing a plastic crack to me but I forgot.

Yeah, I don't know if I want to invest too much in the pen since it is not worth much more that what I payed. It is probably easier and less expensive to find another one. They are rather plentiful on the bay.
