HisNibs.com update -- From Germany by way of China -- Part 2
May 18th, 2012

Greetings,

Our last newsletter introduced two Montblanc-inspired pen models from China...and this time we have another from the manufacturer Crocodile.

Additionally, we have a new fountain pen series from Jinhao as well as some re-stocking news, detailed below.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers (July marks our 15th year of business), please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as soon as possible!

Crocodile Crystal Leather

The Crocodile pen company once again looks to Germany -- and a certain well-known manufacturer -- to pay homage to one of their iconic designs. This one's wrapped in tooled leather!

Jinhao Colonel 163 series

As this is basically a slightly slimmer version of the Jinhao General model, I had no choice but to name this series of pens the Colonel.

The four versions are quite distinctive in appearance, with the Silver Checks being the odd-man-out. The other three have what I've described elsewhere on the website as a rain pattern finish, with a resin or lacquer coating for smoothness.

Crocodile Outré restocked...almost!

To say that this pen has been popular since its introduction in the last newsletter would be a slight understatement! As I write this, I'm awaiting the arrival of the 3rd re-stocking in as many weeks (thanks to those of you patiently waiting for their pens -- they're in route and should arrive in the next few days!).

"Well this blows my mind! I had one of the original MB pens exactly like this (minus the top "ruby") and liked the pen but not the filling mechanism. So now I have the same precious resin :) pen and a sensible filling system!...One thing I do like is that the "ruby" isn't deep red. It actually looks more like a padparadscha sapphire, which I like better!... I'm amazed at the careful workmanship on this, thanks!"
K. S., Omaha, NE

"Hi Norm - I've never opted to comment on one of your specials, but this Outré by Crocodile is truly a gem. Being a lefthander, it writes better than my Mont Blanc and is smoother and slicker!"
B. O. B., Nutley, NJ

Feel free to reserve one from the newest shipment now.

Jinhao Black Dreadnaught re-stocked

Here's the other model introduced last newsletter...which is only on its 2nd re-stocking (I purchased a greater quantity than the Outré initially)!

"Hey Norman, What a surprise! I got home from the office and found the Jinhao 159 Black Dreadnaught waiting to be tried out...WOW, I didn't think it would arrive so soon. And it has not disappointed! This is a great pen-by far my biggest in size and the best value...$35 ??? AMAZING!!! It has such a smooth stroke and I am running out of superlatives so I'd better get back to writing. Thanks for bringing this awesome pen to the USA! Best regards."
R. D., Leawood, KS

"Hi Norman, I just wanted to let you know that I believe that my new Jinhao Dreadnought pen is the best one I have purchased from you to date. I like the feel immensely, with or without the cap attached, while writing. It is smooth as silk. I'll buy more Jinhao in the future!"
W. M., Davenport, IA

A perennial favorite that needs no introduction.

On the blog.. Bob Dylan to Receive Presidential Medal of Freedom

Ok, I know only a small percentage of you are interested in this...but it's my blog! <img src="http://www.hisnibs.com/smile.gif">

"Nearly 50 years after he sounded "Chimes of Freedom" on one of his earliest folk-rock albums, Bob Dylan, the mercurial pop troubadour, will be rewarded with a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor given by the United States, alongside such noteworthy figures as Toni Morrison, Madeleine Albright, John Glenn and John Paul Stevens.
