There's a supply of the discontinued Sailor Yellow-Orange on eBay. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAILOR-FOUNTAIN-PEN-INK-YELLOW-ORANGE-50ML-BOTTLE-/370505634983?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5643db54a7) I love this color! Since I can't afford to buy up all the offered bottles (I bought 2), thought I'd encourage others to grab it. (It's my current highlighter ink.) I've attached a sample of Sailor Yellow-Orange next to the current Sailor Apricot so you can get a sense of the difference between them.

And word is that the nowhere to be found Sailor Yama-dori is now available via cooljapan on eBay. (http://www.ebay.com/usr/cool-japan) You have to contact him (Atsu) directly to ask about it. Sailor has released 7 of their old LEs, at least for the Japan market. Guess we'll learn more as the weeks go by. You might check this (yeah) FPN thread for the info. (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/262593-update-return-of-sailor-limited-edition-inks/) Also linked to a sample of my ugly scrawl in the pretty color.

Not sure if posting here in Inky Goodness is okay, and hope Dan will move it if necessary.

Cheers,
Julie :hippie:

That yellow orange is an intriguing ink, and the perfect pen to hold it is in Brian's pen queue. Thanks :)

The folks at Anderson Pens tell me that the inks will make their way to the USA distribution channels! Their Sailor rep was unable to tell them when, though. So eventually... we'll see these "Seasons" inks everywhere! (Well, through those folks who sell Sailor inks/pens...)

This is good news, ay?

This is great news! I finished my bottle of Miru-ai recently, and I never got a chance to try Sou-ten or Do-you, so I'm looking forward to these inks being re-released. Tokiwa-matsu is a lovely green, but I really, really wish they picked Rikyu-cha instead. I only have one bottle left; I've been using it, but sparingly, to prolong my enjoyment of its murky goodness.

On Friday, I ordered two bottles of Sailor Yellow-orange from the e-bay seller linked in jde's original post. They arrived today (wow, super fast)! They were well-packed and in perfect shape. I was happy to score a couple of bottles of this ink--it's very pretty in a flex nib and it's great for underlining. Thanks for sharing, jde!

Unsure how long before we'll see these inks turn up via USA distributors, I ordered Yama-dori and Tokiwa-matsu from cool-japan. I look forward to Do-you in the future!

Glad to read, reprieve, you picked up some of the Sailor Yellow-Orange! I really love that ink.
(From that same eBay seller came one of my Visconti Inkpots from, too. Still have you to thank for turning me on to these.)

I wish I was still willing to buy Sailor products but since they boycotted The Goulet Pen Company, I have been boycotting them. So no knew cool inks or Sailor pens for me.

It is Sailor's business practice of requiring retailers sell both pens and ink, and Goulet choose for their own business reasons to drop the Sailor pen line and carry only the ink.

For newbies, you can read this post linked here on Ink Nouveau (the Goulet Pens blog) (http://www.inknouveau.com/2013/07/goulet-pens-being-dropped-by-sailor.html) for the news of Goulet being dropped as an authorized retailer for Sailor, and you can dig into the comments for some reasons for dropping the Sailor pen line.

Many authorized Sailor dealers exist, and in the USA favored places include Nibs.com, AndersonPens.net, ISellPens.com, FountainPenHospital.com, GoldSpotPens.com, to name but a few.

The only reason I comment is for people who are new to the community who may wonder 'what the heck?' Information is good, IMHO.

My inks are here! I ordered Yama-dori and Miru-ai (not Tokiwa-matsu as I wrote in an earlier post).

Very pleased to have Yama-dori back in circulation.

Miru-ai is in the green family and my nibs don't capture it's full complexity. A swab of the ink looks very different
... more green/blue/gray. Maybe my nibs not as clean as I think?? Ink looks very dark green à la Private Reserve Avacado or MB Racing Green. (reprieve: help! is what I'm seeing right from your experience?)

I've read that Tokiwa-matsu has a nice green/red quality, and so am interested in knowing if any of you see that combo in Tokiwa-matsu.

Please forgive the scrawl, attached is what I see (no color correction goin' on in the scan). Paper is HP 32#.

Julie, does your Miru-ai look at all like this ink (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/No-46-Nagisa-Museum-Bluish-Grey-NAGASAWA-Kobe-Ink-Fountain-Pen-Bottle-Gray-/310894520826), which is Sailor Kobe No. 46 from Cool Japan?

My Sailor Kobe No. 46 is a gorgeous blue-green-gray that looks a lot like your Miru-ai writing sample. But nothing like MB Racing Green.

Laura, It doesn't quite look like Kobe No. 46. Although it's close. (Funny you should mention No. 46 as I had bought Miru-ai hoping it would be a possible replacement for it.) Do you want me to send you a sample? (PM if you do. Be glad to.)

When I can carve out more time, I've a couple of unused, uninked Edison nibs I'll use for a writing Miru-ai writing sample. (I'm wondering if the pens in my original writing sample had residue of other ink. Still hoping reprieve will chime in with her experience on this ink when she catches up with the thread.)

Here are my swab scans (they're not great, oh dear). The top scan has a tiny swab of Miru-ai next to Kobe No. 46 ("Museum Grey"). The bottom, Miru-ai next to Epinard. I believe the top scan's Miru-ai is darker because I pressed down harder when making the swab. (*argh* will redo all of these when I can find time over the next 20 days...)

I see a lot of blue in Miru-ai. To my eye, it's a dark blue-green; I describe it as "foresty" (it reminds me of paintings of pine trees) but that's very subjective. :)

The top swab in the second scan (in post #14) looks accurate to me. The writing sample in the first scan (in post #12) looks very dark. I don't remember Miru-ai ever being that dark, even in wetter nibs.

Thanks for weighing in! That's helpful.

Here's new scan (committing major relationship faux pas tonight by slipping away from NCAA game) using 2 never before inked Bexley nibs on hand (and unused converters). I can see the blue in the M nib. More green to me in the F, although can see the blue. I think. Maybe mind tricks by now. Interesting.

Okay... stepping away from the ink...

Oh that is a stunning ink color. Wow!

Thanks for taking the time to do these comparisons. I love Kobe No. 46; I'm so happy you have it.

I hope your team won. :)

Here's the packaging for the inks. Note how dark green the Miru-ai looks in the little dot representation of the color.

Obviously those of you with wonderful larger sized nibs will get the full range of this complex color!
Left: Miru-ai. Right: Yama-dori.

Julie, thanks for taking the time to show us these scans! The comparisons are very helpful and informative. Also, I really like the box that Sailor designed to accompany these. Nice presentation.

Lastly, I hope more folks post scans/photos here. I would love to see the other inks in this line.

I have enjoyed this thread so much that I thought I might share my own ink swabs. I recently received these after having ordered them from Atsu at Cool Japan on eBay. These are my first two Sailor ink purchases. I have heard such strong accolades about these that, when I heard that they were once again available, I jumped on it. I'm enjoying these so much that I might be ruined for Sailor inks forever. Both Tokiwa-Matsu and Yama-Dori are so smooth; the ink simply glides onto paper. Ink nirvana.

Tokiwa-Matsu; reminiscent of sunlit evergreens

on Rhodia notepad. Comparisons are to Diamine Evergreen, Diamine Salamander, and Noodler's Sequoia. This one was hard to photograph, so I included a close-up which I think helps a little bit.

Yama-Dori; honestly, this is becoming one of my favorite inks in such a short period of time. I love that it's a dark turquoise with a red sheen. So far, it is lovely in every pen.

On Rhodia pad. Comparisons are to comparable dark blue/ blue-ish, green-ish inks on hand: Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo and Waterman Bleu Mystere.

I did my best to include photos that are fairly well representative of the true ink tones. Hope I was successful in uploading these photos. I'm not exactly the most tech savvy individual.

Best, kp

I have been lucky enough to get a few letters written with some of these inks. They were all great-looking. But the Yama-dori is nothing short of spectacular. I think klpeabody's last photo really shows the sheen and shading.

The last thing I need is more ink. But I am sure I need Yama-dori. :)

I have just ordered a kobe ink from cool-japan. I have been lusting after it since I got an Incowrimo letter using it
