HisNibs.com update -- Pearls and a baby Stylus

Greetings,
I always have a hard time saying "Happy Memorial Day", especially if you've lost a loved one in service to our country. Rather, then, I wish you all a day of fond memories and a joyous time with your families and friends, as we remember the sacrifices that have been made for all of us.
This newsletter brings the arrival of the Jinhao Pearl Panels fountain pen...a slimmer relative of the popular Pearl Windows model.
Also new this time is the diminutive Monteverde Poquito Stylus, the ballpoint and stylus combo for your capacitive touchscreen devices, that will fit anywhere.
I failed to mention in the last newsletter that the Duke Bamboo pen is once again in stock!

Jinhao Pearl Panels

Like its larger brother, the Pearl Windows, Jinhao has done a wonderful job of incorporating beautiful mother-of-pearl into its pen design. The barrel intersperses three panels of lustrous pearl with three of iridescent mother-of-pearl, creating a gorgeous pen when viewed from any angle.
The pen is full-sized but fairly slender, measuring 5-1/2" capped, 6-1/2" posted and 4-7/8" with cap held aside. The cap itself is topped by Jinhao's chariot logo, based on the terracotta warriors from Xi'an, and the cap band is simply engraved with the company name. The shield and sword clip reprises the logo. The cap screws on both ends of the pen -- which is well-balanced with cap posted or held aside.

When I say it fits anywhere...at 4-1/4" with ballpoint extended...I'm not kidding.
These are really great for keeping your screen fingerprint-free, or to write a real note. The Poquito Stylus is available in six 'colors'.

"You might expect that email and the ballpoint pen had killed the fountain pen. But sales are rising, so is the fountain pen a curious example of an old-fashioned object surviving the winds of change?
For many people, fountain pens bring back memories of school days full of inky fingers, smudged exercise books and piles of pink blotting paper.
But for others, a fat Montblanc or a silver-plated Parker is a treasured item. Prominently displayed, they are associated with long, sinuous lines of cursive script.
Sales figures are on the up. Parker, which has manufactured fountain pens since 1888, claims a worldwide "resurgence" in the past five years, and rival Lamy says turnover increased by more than 5% in 2011.
Online retailer Amazon says sales so far this year have doubled compared with the same period in 2011. They are four times higher than 2010."
