Proper Pads from anderson pens are pretty nice

Doane paper is more absorbant than something like Rhodia and I enjoy it for quick notes, but not so much for longer writing...
Most of my favorites are bound journals rather than tablet pads, but Rhodia is always a solid tablet choice.

I believe Franklin Christoph sells pads, too. Their paper is smooth and fp friendly.

If you are lefty then tomoe might not be best. Too long dry time for this lefty

Yes I'm a lefty. Paper that dries the ink quickly is an essential.

I like the dry time on Apica CD. My personal favorite are the skinny a11. Think they have 28 sheets

These are notebooks, not pads.

True...
Southpaw52 most of the pads are good quality but not necessarily economical.
Anyone use big box retailer tablets?

Some of the bagasse (sugar cane) pads at Staples used to be fountain pen friendly. I have not heard much about them lately.

I haven't been able to find those in a while.

You can still get the bagasse notebooks and pads via Staples; you just have to order them online. I use the spiral wire bound 9.5 x 6 and 8.5x11 ones for casual correspondence. They are perforated on the left edge, so they are "acceptable" to me for every day use.

I just made the connection and found your letter. A reply is on it's way, BTW. The paper seems different than the pad I used a while back. The paper seemed like it used to be coated before. Still, like you said, it is acceptable for every day use. It absorbs the ink fast enough that I don't think a leftie would have issues with it. Wet pen users might want to use one side of the page only.

For what it's worth, padding paper is pretty easy. That's what I do to turn some of my nicer writing paper into pads.

Jbb do you glue top, staple or stitch? I would assume glue top would be the easiest and cleanest removeable

I use white glue... and some chipboard/cardboard of course.

Do you use a laserjet paper, or have you found something particularly good for you?

I've used Southworth's Business Papers (from Staples) and also an assortment of vintage papers I accumulate. I'm a total PaperGeek for older, watermarked paper.

I favor Southworth and Neenah if we are speaking of loose leaf

I would avoid Jam Paper Air Mail pads if you are planning to use fountain pens. They were recommended to me as a good onion skin paper, which they resemble, but it was like writing on a tissue when I tried to use my fountain pens. Even my Pilot Custom 74 EF nib feathered like crazy.
