I sent my Nakaya out to Ernest at the end of January and it arrived back today.

We emailed back a forth a few times and I sent him a pic of what I wanted and the color and position.

I decided on "Good Fortune" in silver on the the top of the section.

I like the style of Ernest's kanji. It's a bit bigger and bolder (thicker) than the Nakaya artists' kanji. What was the turn around time? Do you mind sharing a ballpark price range?

That is a stunning combination. Thanks for sharing.

I have to say I am really really happy with his work. It looks so natural and beautiful in person.

Here is a repost of his email with prices.

Turn around was 9 weeks

I still do personalizations for customers pens. The price depends on the color and length of the inscription, but I've written out the basic prices below This is for each pen, 1-5 characters in length per pen.

Gold Maki-e: $50
Silver Maki-e: $45
Pigmented Urushi: $35

Return shipping within the US is $15.
