I don't know why, but I find this pen hilarious. Can you get more literal?

Montblanc writer's edition - Jules Verne? or perhaps HG Wells? :-)

I guess this is one of those times that it is proper to use the word "fugly". :puke:

And, yes, I know it's out there.

My first thought was that it would appeal to steam punk fans. Very interesting.

Who makes it, or was I a one off.

Rather like it in a perverse sort of way.

Whoops, it's a Jean Pierre Lépine (http://www.lepineatelier.com/nos-produits/séries-limitées/hommage-au-titanic/).

But wait, there's more!

The Graphyscaf ('ocean pen' by the same maker) Looks like something Ms Frizzle might have.

I can't find the HG Wells. Anyone have a picture handy?

My husband would love that--he's a Patrick O'Brian fan...he'd feel like a "Master and Commander"!

If the price of this outrageous pen is same as the Chinese pen, I will take one for fun:bump2:

Whoops, it's a Jean Pierre Lépine (http://www.lepineatelier.com/nos-produits/séries-limitées/hommage-au-titanic/).

It's a limited edition and they claim it incorporates parts from the ship. The bathysphere-looking one (it's called "Graphyscaf") is a limited edition of 888.

I usually don't think much of Grande Complication-style limited edition pens but these have a cartoonish style that that it's hard not to feel a little affection for.

Lépine's catalog is good for a couple minutes of entertainment. Bright colors, extreme contrasts and shapes is their fundamental style. Their base model pens are more eye catching than most companies' statement pieces.

I'd like to see the iceberg that sunk this pen..........:)

I wouldn't call it ugly exactly, but then, I use that adjective very sparingly. I didn't have the patience to go through the site looking for numbers with a euro sign in front of them, but I suspect that I'd get ugly about the price.

Anyway, thanks for the laugh.

I don't usually go for these types of over the top pens but the black one has me intrigued. I would call it my 10K Leagues pen. :D

You could buy enough Chinese pens to last you 20 lifetimes with the cost of that one. It's retailing around $6,800 USD. The Graphyscaf is about $5,900.

I was hoping this was about the pen somebody supposedly found at the actual Titanic wreck... not this abomination

I think it's a little too bright and polished to be totally steampunk though :)

If it were a dip pen it would be better. Then they could sell an iceberg ink well to go with it!

Too macabre?

Also, love the little prop.
