So I'm moving (aaaaaahhhhh) and part of that is packing up all my pens cause I'm not letting movers touch them! Normally they live in a nice cabinet. For the move I bought one of those folder carriers. I didn't buy a big enough one, it is full and I still have about 8 pens to pack. Oops, I have a bigger collection than I thought. ;)

So for for the first time ever I sort of had a chance to shoot my Pelikan collection, part of my Montblanc collection is shown too, missing a wartime 144 that is currently in use. Thought you all might enjoy!

The travel cases are excellent for carrying and transporting our pens. Lovely collection and case.

You have a beautiful collection. How do you like the tortoise 101N? I have the modern reissue but am still lusting over a vintage model.

Mine is not a terribly well preserved copy. The cap is a very different color than the body, and the body bindes had some cracks that Rick Propos stabilized. And I find if I don't keep it filled with water the cork almost immediately dries out and won't draw ink, hold a seal, etc. It is a rather finicky pen. The nib is a fairly flexible fine, which isn't what I usually use but can be quite fun. I find I'm too worried about it getting damaged to use it much. Would like one of the new ones with a nice italic nib for everyday use.

Beautiful collection, Tandaina! It's nice to see them all lined up together like that. Thanks for starting this thread--I was thinking of starting one too, just to have some more Pelikan eye candy :)

forgot to mention, I'm waiting on a pen (or two), will add a pic of my flock when it arrives! Also, does your 101N need a new cork? Is that why it's drying out, or are they just
finicky, as you said?

Love your flock of birds Tandaina! It seems to be a very well curated selection. I had to give up on the folding travel cases a while ago due to the size of my collection. I'm afraid if I moved, my birds wouldn't know where to flock. Here is 90% of my flock, just for fun.

These are gorgeous, wonderful collections. What a pleasure for the eyes. I love that white tortoise shell. I have a lowly 2 M800s - blue striped and the tortoise shell brown...but am slowly building :-)

Here are most of mine. I still have a few I haven't gotten around to photographing, as well as the matching pencils for some of these. The 400NN is my favorite of them all.

Not nearly as much as the other we've seen in this thread though.

To think I got my first Pelikan (M800 Tortoise) on February 2013, these birds definitely multiply.

Did you manage to fix the gap between the piston knob and the barrel on the grey P1?

tandaina
June 27th, 2014, 09:47 AM
Yep, it just needed the piston assembly screwed out and fiddled with and screwed back in. Something just wasn't lined up right. All good now.

Yes, but the nibs let them down - all modern nail types. ;)
If/when I get to use my Picadilly, I will probably swap the nib for an old 400 nib.
Best 'modern' Pelikan nib I have is from an old style - pre 1997 - M600 with an 18K OM nib. (The old style M600 is an M400 body with an 18K nib. M400 had 14K.)

Nice collection, Brewsky.

All I have is the M200 Special Edition Clear Demonstrator (XF/gold trimming) and a black M150 with gold trimming (M). I like the small barrels.

I used to collect modern Pelikans heavily, but once I discovered vintage pens, I drifted away. The M800 and M1000 sized pens are perfect for my hand however, so I still have a number of them.
Seeing Igor61's post reignited my lust for the Austria1000. That one has always been out of my reach. Anyway, several of the pens in this photo have gone to new homes, but many are still in my regular rotation.

Yes, the M1000 second from right has a binde made by Chris Burton. It was done several years ago. It never leaves my rotation.

Why not get a 100 or 100N and swap bindes? That way you can swap them to have a choice of 2 pens you could use.

Say more about this, I have an old 100 that indeed has a loose bind, but my understanding was that wasn't by design.... (shrinkage!)

The binde on a 100(N) is easily swapped - just enscrew the piston mechanism and replace it. The pen has a sleeve/barrel and the binde fits over this.

The one 100N I've got the piston is frozen/stuck in the back. :\ (Need to get it sent in to someone, haven't yet.) I'd be worried about screwing those old piston assemblies in and out a lot!

Careful, its not that easy to replace a sleeve. It´s better to put the barrel in water for at least 24h and only take it out after using a rubber piece. It will only come out from the section end. Sometimes it´s very hard to take it out.

From what I hear now this is no longer an option.
The last I heard from him my Ibis was on the bench. Maybe I am the one that made him give it up.

Anyway, I got a new storage box yesterday, and the next thing I knew it was full of Pelikans. These are most of my nice ones though so I thought it was worthy of a picture.

I don't have all of these anymore, but here's a photo I took of the flock a while ago.

They're in a nest!

The mom and dad of the flock are the M800 in red and the M800 Demo with Spanish imprints with a factory error in translation, which makes this pen one of only 19 in the world. The grandfather of the bunch, also the shortest, is the rare reverse trim Pelikan 140 with BB CN flex stub. A wonderful nib!

I only have one, so far. This one is an M600, But there will definitely be more... ;)

The ink is the ink of my primary school days, Pelikan Königsblau. Only back then, I used cartridges. The paper is Atoma, a Belgian brand of notebooks, and it actually IS from my primary school days. I found these notebooks a while back in my old stuff, and the paper is surprisingly fountain pen friendly! This really is a "vintage" notebook, it is more than 30 years old!
