I am going to put in an order for some Iroshizuku ink samples at either Goullet or Isellpens and need a recommendation for a budget journal. I don't have a ton of experience with it so need help. I like a5 size and lined and don't want to spend a ton. It'd be nice if it presented well also. I write with mostly finer nibs. Suggestions?

Not exactly budget, but I love the A5 Midori stitched notebook. Lays flat, no bleed through. Great notebooks. Leuchtturn 1917 has a nice A5, but I think they are overpriced. The Basic Clairefontaine Life Unplugged notebook is quite nice for $10.

If it's budget you're after the hands down choice is the Staples "M" business notebooks. A5, lined, cheap and very FP friendly. Not fancy, but more than presentable. The other choice is one of the Apica notebooks you can get from Goulet. Very cheap, but they look it.
