So my handwriting is not the best in the world, but I am willing to change that. But first I want to know is an oblique broad nib good? I mean is my handwriting small? Or perfect for a broad nib?

Here's a sample of my handwriting

As you can see my handwriting isn't really the best... (So is my German :p ).

I want transform my handwriting to this

Me too. If that was written with a BB nib it looks great to me.

BTW most of my daily writers are either OBB and OBBB so I might be a bit biased in my opinions on this sort of mater. I actually just bought the 90th anniversary MB with a OBB nib.

The reason why I use oblique nibs is because of the way my hand turns inwards as I am not a natural right hander. I had to adapt to write with the right hand many years ago in school as left hand writing was not allowed.

If you want to change your handwriting to the sample first shown probably and Broad Italic (Stub) nib could help you to achieve that.

Wow!! That is one sick school... I am a natural left-hander,
I guess I go with the Oblique Broad nib,
'OBB' or 'OBBB' nibs are just not for me because of my small handwriting,
My 'e' would look like an ink blot along with my 's' but 'OBBBs' would be perfect for headings and 'OBBs' for sub-headings

Guess I'll buy all three of them. :) :p

Thank you

From what you wrote in German, you are probably in Germany. Pop into one of the MB boutiques and ask them to try the various nib sizes. All boutiques carry a full set of 146's or 149's with all MB nib sizes. That is how I first chose the nib size.

Another I like but it is very difficult without putting many practice hours is Deutsche Kurrentschrift (http://deutsche-kurrentschrift.de/). Actually this is another website http://homepage.univie.ac.at/walter.dietrich/deutsche.html.

In addition to those three, assuming there's a tenner or so left in the pen fund, may I suggest the purchase of a cheap and cheerful calligraphy fountain pen with an untipped italic nib? You can modify the angle of attack on a whetstone - also sharpen or blunt it, take off the corners and so forth without risking much. If you're aiming for a script like the first example, that's probably the easiest way to get started.

Rui: I've heard stories of left handers undergoing forcible conversion but never encountered anyone who'd suffered it before. Sounds appalling.
