Good morning all,

This PIF is for a set of 5 samples (approx. 3ml each) of the bespoke Sailor inks made for the Kingdom Note store in Japan. I imported these into the UK via WRE forwarding service, and they are quite rare outside Japan.

The winner can choose 5 samples from three sets available:

1. Birds of Japan
2) Insects of Japan
3) Fungi of Japan (this is the very latest set to be released)

The winner can choose from either one complete set, or mix and match to select their favourite. If you'd like this set of 5 samples, apply in this thread, saying why you want them. I will liaise with the winner about their choice of inks.

I will close this PIF at 7pm (BST) next Thursday 12th June. I am happy to post these worldwide.

Good morning migo984 ~

Thank you for this wonderful ink PIF. I've never seen this ink before, it looks gorgeous. It would be great to try it out on a few of the new (old) pens that I've been lucky enough to get recently. Trying out new inks is something I always look forward to. Please throw my name into the hat for this one.

Thanks again,
Kathy

Hello migo984.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful PIF! I'm constantly looking at trying new inks because at the moment my ink collection is very limited to only a blue and a black and I would love to try new colours, so please count me in!!

Kind Regards.

Hi Migo - another chance at new and exciting inks! I'd love to jump in with both feet. The bottles alone look lovely of course that's not the samples, but if the bottle is already so nice... the ink won't be nasty, will it? So, please count me in for a chance at these. And thanks for doing this...

Hi, Migo,

I would try these inks as I have heard of them; I don't think we can get them in the US except by buying them through an ebay seller. They all look like beautiful colors. I would write lovely poems using them, I'm sure.

Thank you:)
I'm a newbie and my descent into pen addiction can't be complete without trying some ink. Now that I have about 20 pens I need ink to fill them ;)

Oh! look at those!

I'd be delighted by these because:

1) The oh so Japanese attention to the exquisite colors of bugs.
2) I'm a student of Corvidae and the first ink pictured (Garrulus lidthi) is a member.
3) The little green and pink mushrooms are enchanting!

Would do my best effort to post ink reviews of what I'd received.

Thanks for introducing us to this lovely series in such a generous way!

Wow. Having already dipped my toe into the world of sailor bespoke inks I would love to try some more. The themes all look fantastic, it will be hard to make my mind up. Probably a full fungi set though.

Slightly disappointed that cyanopica cyanus wasn't one of the birds, since that is a special bird to me.

Hello I would like to enter please. Why? Because inks is an area of the hobby I have yet to explore. As you probably know there are few places in the UK that sell ink samples so it makes it difficult to take a punt on inks without the risk of an ink not turning out how you thought it would and feeling hard done by especially when you are a student.
Great offerings as always, I hope the winner will appreciate it.

I would like to apply. I love ink samples. I have several ink samples from gouletpens.com and enjoy them. Ink samples allows me to try out ink without making a huge commitment. I have never use ant of the sailor brand ink either.

Lately, amazing Geeks have been incredibly generous in sharing their inks with me. I'll be writing with real gratitude when I take up my pens.

Oh--I picked two birds, two fungi, and a bug!

I'm thinking, once they arrive, that I'll do a little "Postcard Mass Mailing" so I can share with as many pen pals as possible. I'll get a thread started once the inks arrive.

Wait. This may mean having 5 pens at the ready. Perhaps 5 new pens.....migo, what have you done!!!?

Remember to note - in an easily retrievable way! - what ink goes in what pen, and when. And maybe what you think of it on first use...
I hope you don't mind my saying this - it is from someone who tends to experiment with ink mixes AND ink samples, and recently I've been overwhelmed by the quantity of different inks in different pens... I tend to lose track, and keeping notes in an ink journal, even when I'm in too much of a hurry to do it consistently, does help me trace back what that wonderful color is that I'm now finding in my not quite favorite pen... you get the idea.

Thank you for the advice. I do keep an ink journal and will do my utmost to keep track of these as I go. Busily making and acquiring postcards to send across the globe with these inks!

They're here! Each one a subtle surprise. There are already 6 "Japanese Falcon" postcards ready to send with writing samples of all 5 of these inks. I chose the cards to reflect the colors of the inks. If you'd like such a postcard, just send me a pm with your address.

I've posted a simple review of the samples over on the Ink Reviews thread here:

Again, many thanks going out to migo!

Kind regards,

I'd like a postcard too. If things have worked out, you have my address, and also some pens to sample the ink with (although I don't know that you'd want to, seeing as they are eyedroppers. You could pour a whole sample in one barrel...).

Still not tired of these colors!
