Does anyone know of a small notebook that will hold up better than average in a back pocket? During the summer when I'm not wearing coats, and I'm less likely to be wearing a pocketed shirt, the note pad ends up in my back pocket. They get sat on, and, well, down here in the South in the summer, we perspire, y'all. I could get those horrible little "Composition Book"s from the grocery store, and just replace it once a week, but I'd prefer something a little nicer if I can find something that will last longer. Does anyone have any ideas?

It sucks for anything but ballpoint, but ”write in the rain” is a waterproof paper that if you use a
Space pen you really can write on it when wet. Sweatproof! www.writeintherain.com

There are a few that I've used and I always have one in my back pocket. Moleskine, isn't bad if you stay away from broad nibs and very wet inks. Rhodia is better.

I've used a Moleskine pocket reporter (fine nibs, well behaved inks, or a pencil ONLY). Rhodia's smallest e-Pure cover with a Bloc no.11 works for me too.

Maybe a subthread to this could be reporter style books with decent paper? I like the format of the Mole but its paper drives me mad.

Although, in the UK, we're more likely to get rained on than baked by the sun this year.

I got a cheap pocket one at Staples from Martha Stewart ... $ 2.95 perfect holds up well and not too thick that you can sit down. I use mine for notes at customers
luncheon etc when I need to write something down ...

I usually carry a rhodia or clairefontaine notebook.. Field notes might fit the bill (I just picked up several recently) but some inks have feathering and bleed through / show through issues

I am waiting for an inkleaf Field Notes cover, which is capable of handling two notebooks of the same size. I plan to make my own notebooks using G Lalo paper. Will it fit comfortably in my back pocket? I'm not so sure, but I'll let you know.

I have been making my own Field Notes sized notebooks with HP Laser paper and putting them in a leather cover I sourced on Etsy.com. The thing is made of such thick and stiff leather that it still has trouble laying flat. I don't care because it takes back pocket abuse like no other.

Red Field notes cover has been holding up well in the back pocket this summer. I was worried it would fall apart. So far it has done well. I was paying at the vet's office today when I realized it wasn't in my back pocket anymore. I backtracked through all my errands today and was totally confused where and how I lost the notebook. And then I found it... on my desk. Oops...

This is my Inkleaf Field Notes leather cover. I filled it with two notebooks and there is still a bit of room for assorted pieces of paper like receipts and business cards. One of the notebooks it covers is a Field Notes for my to-dos and the other is a homemade notebook with G. Lalo paper for more grandiose ideas/delusions. This is absolutely wonderful craftsmanship and a formidable end to my quest for the perfect pocket notebook.

Duende, love the Inkleaf cover.

I never did post up a picture of mine.

That's an excellent black leather cover you got. Befitting a beastly dark lord.
