I heard SBRE Brown's comments on the Akkerman ink bottles and had to see one for myself. So I found the website (http://www.pw-akkerman.nl/) and looked. They are beautiful bottles and I'd love to get some, but I can't navigate the purchase since I don't speak Dutch. The filled bottles themselves cost (16.50 Euros, a little over $20 USD). For that price its less expensive than Edelstein and Iroshizuku AND you get a real cool bottle. Further, I couldn't figure out how much they cost to ship.

Is there any way to order them in the U.S.? Do they ship to the U.S?

Yes, they do ship to the USA. I have handled this for my Pen Club, The New Mexico Pen Collector's Club. We ordered 15 bottles from "Paul" @ Ackeman. He is an English speaking gentleman that is very nice to deal with! You will also find that 15 bottles is the BEST DEAL, price wise that you will get from Ackerman. They will not "deal" on price, which only leaves you the shipping to work on, and that means to order as many bottles as possible to get the price down. Sounds strange, I know, but when you start crunching numbers you will see that I am right. At 15 bottles, the price comes down to approx. 29.00 USD. It's been about a year or two since we did this in our club, so I may be a bit foggy on the 29.00 number, but I am sure that I'm close. Another thing.....If you use Google, they have a translator for Ackerman inks that brings it into English which will help you navigate thru it a bit. When I contacted Paul, I did not phone him, I e-mailed him and everything went smooth as molasses. The only problem we encountered was 1 broken bottle, at the neck, and Paul promptly sent me a replacement! I hope that I have been of some help to you, if not and you need more info, just PM me and I will be happy to be of more help to you on this matter. Best Wishes, Mike.

Please note that for this price, you'll not only get a cool bottle, but also a very BIG bottle, at 150 ml. That is 3x Iroshizuku, Edelstein or PR and almost twice Duamine or the standard Noodler's bottle. And just for comparison, at the only place over here that offers Iroshizuku (as far I know) it is € 30 for 50 ml, or at current rates USD 36, plus shipping if you're not picking it up, which would cost me at least a half day.
I think the easiest way for you would be to contact Paul Rutte at the mail address at the top of their homepage. He is a real "pen person" and if he can, he'll go out of his way to help you.

Cheers,
Peter

Edit: if you REALLY get in trouble with specific pieces of Dutch text, post them here, I'll get you a translation for the benefit of everyone. But please, not the whole page. And I only check the forum once or twice a day, there are other things in life.

We are actually trying to organize a group by for FP Geeks, though its not clear how we would manage distribution to our far flung network. We've been discussing it over at the thread: Akkerman Inks. Join is and let's see if we can figure it out.

I have searched amazon and ebay. Nothing comes up. Being that its only in dutch makes it exlusive. Having that cool bottle makes it even more exclusive. I have to have some. Maybe i will try the google translator.

You could always email them. They speak very good English. Also, the Dutch for fountain pen is Vulpen and ink Inkt. It seems. Should be pretty easy to feel your way through their shop without any Dutch.

I did a quick unboxing video to show how it arrives and explained how I ordered.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEZim1ob3eE

This order was placed on Nov. 12th & arrived Nov. 23rd. Very fast from the Netherlands to New York. Inks are #10, #13 & #23. Goto www.pw-Akkerman.nl to see the color chart or to order. The total shipped was $80. Remember these are 150ml bottles. I used PayPal as well.
Paul Rutte was the person I spoke to in email and he was very helpful and responded fast. Ask him for the "barcode" and that will allow you to track it on the usps.com site once it is here so you know when to expect it. You will need to sign for it. AWSOME service.

He is very helpful... Please let him know the folks @ Fountain Pen Day helped you.
