The pen is available at Jetpens.com for $21 without the clip (as of this posting). (http://www.jetpens.com/Kaweco-Classic-Sport-Ballpoint-Pen-1.0-mm-Black-Body/pd/8183)

KI, the Kaweco Sport Ballpoint is a very chunky pen, reminds me of the Koh-I-Noor Mechanical Pencil with its 5.6mm lead. The diamonds and stripes on alternating barrel panels gives it a old art-deco style look. Good to hear you can use alternative refills. Unfortunately rather expensive for a ball point.

thanks for the review. Great pictures as usual.

Thanks Bogon.

Nice review!

I still prefer the ink roller pen even though it is not the best pen for left handers (the ball does not run very smooth). The main reason is that I miss a cap to post on the ballpoint while you get one with the ink roller pen...

Does it use the same style of refills?

It uses standard ink cartridges...:

You probably thought I meant the "Capless Roller". Bad naming on Kaweco's part. The Capless Roller uses refills that are different from the ballpoint. It looks more like a gel ink cartridge. And I think it is called "capless", because it looks like a fountain pen with the cap being posted, but it seems like it cannot be taken off (it's a part of the knock mechanism).

Huh. Had not seen that one before. Thanks for showing it to me. I think I will stick with the FP for now though. :D I do wish Kaweco would just include the clip. I had the gold one laying around from when I replaced my Classic Sport clip with the nickel plated version. I also wish I could take the nickel Kaweco finial from the ballpoint and put it on my FP.

As far as I know you can also use Schmidt refills. They shouldn't be very expensive:

http://www.ipenstore.com/servlet/the-5053/Schmidt-D1-MultiPen-Mini/Detail
http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Schmidt-S635-Mini-Ballpoint-Refill-Medium.html#a16277

=> Schmidt S620
=> Schmidt S630
=> Schmidt S635

So basically you should look for "D1 international refills" I guess...

I just want something that is gel. I know I had some around here at one point. D1, okay, that is a start. :thumb:

But I cannot guarantee that they really work.

A decent gel refill makes most ballpoints much nicer (ime) - I've heard good things about those Schmidt refills though.

I like the diamond pattern too!

I am wondering about the diamond pattern. It looks to be an older design? The Kaweco site only shows the smooth and chess board design.:noidea:

I checked on Jetpens.com and they are not specifically listed but they just confirmed that the Zebra Sharbo X Gel refills are indeed workable with the Kaweco. :bounce:

How are the Zebra refills performing?

Actually, I am using the Platinum refill with it.

Not sure, Ivan...but there is a "Guilloch 1930" one in black with horizontal lines punctuated with // // as shown at the 1:01 mark of this GouletPens video: http://www.inknouveau.com/2011/11/kaweco-classic-sport-guilloch-1930.html
I own that particular model (in ballpoint form) and I like using it because of its 'chunky' size.

P.S. Late edit---thanks for the review and (as always) nice photos! :)
