Today I explored a store that is all about recycling materials. I found a few sheets of a paper that might be onion skin paper (more likely just tracing paper though), and this bottle.

I bought it because it looks like a fountain pen ink bottle, but I could be wrong. Has anyone ever seen this before, and is it fountain pen safe?

Normal 4001 bottle often packaged with the M200 in the 1990s IIRC.

Yup, that's Pelikan ink. I'd just make sure it doesn't have stuff growing on it, or sediment that might clog a pen.

Oh man, I wish I had thought of that before I shook the heck out of the bottle and held it up to the light to see if it was still liquidy

Thanks for the responses though ... can't wait to see how it looks on paper!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say "black".

Pelikan were still doing the same-shaped bottles up to quite recently. 50ml in the bottle with the 'pen rest' along one side. I ca'nt see them on the usual websites though. I've got the Brilliant Black one.

This is Pelikan's standard 4001 ink in a fancy bottle. Still available in Brilliant Black and Royal Blue (http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/en_US_INTL.Store.displayStore.121215./the-pelikan-ink-tg-1), but with the standard modern label design rather than the stylized retro one.

And it's gorgeous.
