Here is some more pen porn for those Parker 45 lovers among us. This is a recently acquired Coronet. It has a brushed metal cap and barrel in an attractive grey, with gold plate trim. It has a 14kt gold fine nib. Apart from the lightest of scratches on the section, the pen is in near mint condition, with the cap and barrel being absolute pristine. It is such a pleasure to be able to add a pen in this condition to one's collection.

Stop posting pretty 45s people! Trying to buy some on the cheap. Lovely pen, thanks for sharing.

Ha, ha. Sorry BB. I'm not trying to drive the price up. But that might be the inadvertent result of reminding people how underrated these pens really are.

I have started seeing the modern (2000+) non-Coronet 45's listed as high as $75 buy-it-now but that is not the norm. You can still get them (Classics and CT's) for around the price of postage if you are patient and easily below $20 if you look around. Not one like this one, but still. The Coronets and Harlequins have remained priced on the lower end in the collector (as opposed to "user") category with some of the Harlequins entrenched in the "serious collector" category. There are just too many of the classics and CT's in circulation for the price to really get out of hand. I think that posts like this will generate more interest in the 45's and probably bring more 45's out into the open. I think that is good for everybody. Well, everybody except for those of us who are trying to find pens like this at CT prices. :)

Edit: Lo and Behold here is a Black Classic for $15 from Rick Rick Kranz Sale today (http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/7772-SATURDAY-SALE-TIME!-LOTS-OF-COOL-STUFF-NOT-EVEN-GOING-TO-TELL-YOU-WHAT!) talk abut timing!

Love the Coronets ... beautiful pens ... Keep posting those pictures!

I can't understand anyone paying $75 for a 2001 plus Parker 45 Flighter when you can still buy NOS/mint 1970's ones for much less. Personally I don't like the newer version, somehow it doesn't "feel" as well made and solid as as the old ones.

Lovely pen, a variant I wasn't (visually) aware of before. As nice as these pens are, I can only think of one model of writing instrument when I hear the term "Coronet":

... which is of course the Wahl-Eversharp line. And this then ("You call that a Coronet?") only leads me more astray...

Ha, ha, ha. Well put Jon. That's a great video clip of Hoges but it depicts a stereotype that has just about disappeared down here in Oz. Globalisation is diffusing local culture at an ever increasing rate and I don't think there's much we can do about it. Cheers!

None actually. This one is strictly for the 45 collection and won't be doing any writing soon. :)

Nah, I've put a replacement 14kt gold nib in it that I already know how it writes from tuning it in another body.

Gary Lehrer's (gopen.com) latest catalog (No. 72) is currently in release for subscribers and soon will be open to the general public. There are two of these Coronets still available as I type this (#114 and #116). Worth a look as both are NOS (new old stock).

No affiliation other than being a satisfied customer for several years.
