Happy Yellow Rhodiarama

I've been oogling the luscious candy-colored Rhodiarama Webnotebooks for a long time now. BUT ... I have had small lined "Webbies" before, and found them a little too small for everyday writing, and so never even finished them. And to my great sorrow the only large size Webbies that are sold in the US are in some of the most boring colors possible (sapphire, purple, chocolate). And though I've been looking, most retailers don't carry the blank versions, so when I was visiting a local art store (Meininger's, for the Denver/Colorado Springs folks), and saw one on sale I HAD to snatch it up. Along with some other goodies, of course! :D

Can I just say how much I LOVE the colorful zebra patterns on the inside front and back covers? How great are these?

I wanted blank to have the freedom from lined paper, to use it for a mini sketchbook, journal, quotes book, whatever. After thinking it over, I decided I liked the idea of keeping a 'Daily Happy Thoughts' art journal. Kind of Pollyanna-ish I know, but I figured it'd be a good way to get me sketching daily. And it was such a Happy Yellow Rhodia!! I already knew it worked well with fountain pens, and its okay with Stabilos/Staedtlers that I use to color items in - there's some showthrough, but nothing that I consider a deal-breaker. Here's a sample:

So all in all, I love the size and color and fountain pen friendliness of the paper, and am planning on continuing the Happy Yellow Rhodia art journal experiment.

Because I have a notebook sickness, I saw the lilac colored notebook for sale on Ebay. It was for a lined notebook, and even though I really wanted another blank notebook as a backup to the Happy Yellow Rhodia, I couldn't resist as I've wanted Lilac for a long time. And it is BEAUTIFUL. Just have no idea what to do with it! Sigh.

Chefz, this is news to me! These are "Must Acquire" items. Thanks for showing them here. I see 15 different colors for sale at Jet Pens.

They really come with the polychrome zebra??? Super!

I for some reason love the black and orange available on the standard webnotebooks. Call me boring.

I think the word "loud" doesn't do it justice. I'll bet if you hold them out your window, Google Earth could pick you up. I'm usually quite boring in my notebooks which has a major downside. Trying to find the right black book in a pile of black books isn't always easy. I really should think of adding a splash of color some day. The beauty of this hobby is that there's something for all of us. As the old saying goes, "De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum." Of tastes and colors there is nothing to be disputed. Enjoy your new notebooks and remember; it's what's inside that counts. :)

LOL - not boring at all! I have a close friend who got me started in fountain pens. We joke because my pens are crazy bright and fun, filled with boring business-appropriate inks. While her pens are boring blacks and grays and demonstrators, with wild and fun ink colors inside. And we have the same job! So go figure, people are funny that way. Get what brings you the most happiness I always say. :D

It IS pretty bright, I admit. I have that song 'Pocketful of Sunshine' playing in my head when I look at it.

I'd really be all for a simple black notebook with the crazy colorful zebra patterns inside and a brightly colored elastic strap. Mmm mm mm.

You're welcome! I really want the turquoise, iris and anise green as well. And raspberry. Sigh.
JetPens is great, I use them often. Apparently the Rhodiarama line was released in all colors in the larger size overseas, with the same pretty graphics. But if you want the larger size notebooks in the US, the only retailer that carries them is http://www.shopwritersbloc.com/webbies.html, and that's only in the three colors I mentioned earlier. Which aren't bad, but not quite bright enough for my tastes!

Now that I've tried both, I like the 4x6 size of the Quo Vadis Habana (http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/7094-First-impressions-from-a-new-user-the-Quo-Vadis-Habana) just a bit more over the 3.5 x 5.5 of the Rhodia line. The difference in the papers (Rhodia's 90g vs Habana's 85g) is minimal, but that extra space adds just that extra smidge of room on the page that really makes a big difference in writing comfortably, at least for me. I really enjoy having both.

I loved my Quo Vadis Habana. I just finished up the last page the other day and I already have the shakes. I need to order a new one, and soon. I love the Rhodia, but the paper in the Quo Vadis was just a little more responsive to me. And you're right in the other post; the Habana it does lie flat and the extra 2.25 square inches is divine!
