View Full Version : Good places for Eversharp Print Ads?

I'm curious to find some print ads (or least some decent web-sized scans) of various Eversharp pen print ads. I'm particularly interested in finding the ad that Syd mentioned a while back where the Skyline had a "Red/White" cap on a blue body as sort of a Patriotic theme.

Most of what I found on ebay or google images don't appear to match, and most of them appear to be for the full-metal caps.

Briefly looking at the site... yea it looks like I'll want to contact them and ask directly, trying to find anything specifically on that site is a bit difficult unless it's a very popular item/category.

Edit found these two listings which seem to be the only one showing a red/white cap (but red body, and in the pen box, blue/white cap and red body).

If you're a member of the PCA (http://pencollectorsofamerica.com) you will have access to all sorts of catalogs and scanned materials. Plus you'll get a nice magazine a couple of times a year.

Hrm probably next month or so, $40 is slightly high this time of the month especially since I'm already committed to buying a P51 as soon as it's fixed up.

Though I Can see the list of files under Wahl-Eversharp category and none of it other than a service manual is in the 40s.

I will check what I have tomorrow and see if any
match what you are looking for. Have not looked at them in over a year so I don't remember.

Thanks. :P

I heard back from Sam @ Pendemonium, unfortunately he doesn't have anything resembling what I'm looking for.

I wonder if Syd has it in it's personal stock :P

The red, whitish and blue pen was a standard model in the late war years and a little beyond. There are a few Saturday Evening Post advertisements showing this pen from that time frame, and if memory serves a Walt Disney endorsement Advertisement showing this pen in his hands. The color in the ads is more definitely red white and blue. Aging plastic on the cap has yellowed/browned/greened out the white on most of the survivors, so it may not look like the pen in the ads, but it is. This red white and blue pen was an all purpose patriotic pen without allegiance to any one service. There were separate Army and Navy pens made in Blue and gold and Brown and Gold too. The government bought a very large quantity for Skyline pens for servicemen/women during the war. It is not known how many were sold to the government nor how many were issue or sold in government military stores aboard ship or at bases, camps and training facilities. Also, if memory serves me tonight, the pen in question bright work should be gold filled and not gold plated.

Though if it's this ad, I'm not seeing it. Other than the fact that white was one color used in the celluloid caps along side red. (which may have been his original point, though was hoping maybe there was one showing the red+white cap, and blue body)

It's kind of a cool ad, though, even if it isn't the right one.

Karl, hunting for an ad like this may be nearly as difficult, or maybe more, than finding the pen itself. Put it on your list of things to accomplish in the next ten years... :)

LoL. Though the pen itself doesn't seem quite that hard. (or he's just a lucky s-o-b), the guy I bought mine from ended up getting the same pen but in a standard size the next day.
