Smyth sewn binding, and duo-tone linen/canvas weave on the cover. Excellent quality all around. Paper is fountain pen

friendly with most pens and inks except for some wet, 18k medium + nibs.

About notebook #1 is it closer to A4/A5 size? Sorry, I'm trying to get a good sense of how large it is compared to some of my older notebooks.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. It's the Japanese version of A5 (B5), but in person I think that size might feel closer to A4. Here's a photo comparison w/ a Moleskine-size A5 notebook over Lihit Lab:
