Up for sale is a beautiful Parker Deluxe Challenger in a perlescent green and black color. The date code on the barrel indicates it was manufactured in the first quarter of 1935. This is the larger of the two sizes of Challengers, and has the raised center on the clip. The pen has been cleaned, shined up, and a new sac installed. Cosmetically, the pen is in very nice shape, with relatively little wear from use over the years. The button-filler mechanism functions perfectly and the blind-cap fits smoothly and snugly. The barrel and cap feature deep pearlescent greens and blacks with no fading. The gold-filled clip and triple cap band look good, but with some brassing. The barrel imprint reading "Parker Deluxe Challenger, Made in U.S.A., Pat Pend., Parker Pen Co." is crisp and clearly readable. Best of all, the pen features a very smooth 14k nib that lays down a silky fine-to-medium line. As you can see in the photos, this is a very handsome pen. And it's also a great writer!
