I'm here at the encouragement of Tim & Dan to seek your input on my little idea. Tim told me that my "gut-wrenching tale of woe" is sure to play upon your emotions.

I wouldn't be here on an FpGeeks forum if I wasn't passionate about fountain pens. And what FP Geek doesn't carry multiple pens? There is always a Kaweco Sport in my trouser pocket. But, most of my shirts are pocketless and I refuse to carry any of my nicer pens in a trouser pocket with keys and such. I began to carry pens clipped in my shirt placket or, better yet I thought, clipped through a button hole. Oh, how clever am I? Hmm, not so clever. That works just fine for a TWSBI that has a nice o-ring to ensure the cap stays on the pen. But, one day upon leaving the dentist I discovered in the parking lot the remains of a late 1930s era Sheaffer Balance Admiral (500) vacuum filler that had been crushed by a car. The cap was still clipped in my button hole. My cries were made even more pitiful by the novocain. The color had been marine green striated. The nib was once wonderful. At the beginning of the day there were almost no marks or scratches so it polished to a gorgeous sheen. And, I had restore the pen myself giving it that much more sentimental value. Ugh. It was now barely recognizable as a pen.

Once I made it past denial and anger I decided I needed a way to carry a pen from my shirt's button hole yet still have the security of a pocket. I conceived the pen pocket. A small, pen-sized pocket with a button hole to button within the placket of a shirt.

I've been using mine for over a year and no more pens have been needlessly sacrificed. My wife thinks there must certainly be other pen obsessed folk interested in this pen pocket. I'd like to know what you think.

I have a few dozen pen pockets and have written them up on my blog - Paper Wants A Pen (http://paperwantsapen.blogspot.com/). This may seem like a disingenuous ploy to get sales. I do want sales, but I also want feedback and input about whether real pen people are even remotely interested in my idea and if there are other features that may be of interest.

Please tell me what you think.

Ooo nice Idea
I use a neck holster from Franklin-Christoph

But then I also always wear a tee under any shirt even in hottest summer

I like your idea. I hope you have a patent.

As it goes, I have pockets on my shirts, but this would be something useful, especially for those of us who won't be likely to use shirt pockets.

I may pick some up for my daughters...

Good luck
Mike

I only have 1 or 2 shirts with no pocket .. but I would buy at least one .. for sure.

I like the idea and seems it would be a safe and even discreet way of carrying a pen.

Good idea. It seems hard to get a decent shirt with a pocket here in the uk.
