Well that's a "Duh", you never put India Ink into a Fountain Pen. :D (same with you don't put "Calligraphy" ink into a fountain pen).

It's one of the first advice nearly every bit of "introduction to fountain pens" give.

Least now we have a visual example of what the contents of India ink does to a modern fountain pen.

By the way that looks like a Pilot Nib? Metro/78G?

Judging by the pen's condition, that fateful first fill was its last. The nib's dimensions are the same as 78G, metro, knight etc. but this one looks older. It'd be great if any of you could help identify this.

Nevermind.

It's the Pilot Non Self Filing (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/72632-pilot-non-self-filling-fountain-pen/) fountain pen. Also known as the PILOT "Tank", but without the usual metal cap. It came in a set with a matching pencil, which explains the plastic cap. All the more reason now to replace the nib :p
