Some have already seem this from my Instagram page or Twitter. I decided to ink up my Parker 21 with PR Naples Blue.

My newly repaired Delta Dolce Vita Oversized. Made my heart happy. Also, inked up the Opera Blue Typhoon I just bought and took notes in a Telecon. My first Visconti stub and it's pretty wonderful. The filling mechanism is beyond strange, way beyond. In fact, strange is a mere dot on the horizon of this perspective.

And how did the cats react to the 'mosquito needle filler' ?

Mr. curious Artie watched very closely looking from me to the bottle and back again. Mystified. When I flushed it he was super fascinated with the ink swirls in the sink and did reach out to tap to long skinny part. The other three were too busy chasing molecules to know anything about it. :D

That Toffee Brown is nice. I got a fill from Eriquito last year in DC and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Today I busted out my trusty Aluminum Al-Star w/1.5 Italic. Lotsa people took notice and tried it out.

My 540 is about to run out of Organics Green Sepia. If I put something else in this pen Imma have to ink another pen with that sepia, it's awesome.

What size nib to you favour ?
Have you tried Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite also a mysterious dark blue black purple. Flows well too.

The Nexx is an under-rated pen, I think many are put off by the goofy plastic caps & the metal clip version is only marginally more sophisticated.

The relevant question is: "You're still insisting on that rubbish paper, huh?"

Assuming it's a fine nib, the paper must be absolutely atrocious if it's giving enough trouble to merit a lowered mark...

In other news:

Today I used a Lamy Nexx M grey cap with Diamine Merlot and a Parker Vacumatic in Emerald Pearl with Diamine Eau de Nil. How I love this pen, and how glad I am it's been returned to me with its filling system fully operational!

Today, I am writing with the Papermate DJ. Reviewed here. (http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/2004-Papermate-DJ-Cute-little-squid)

It's EMPTY. And it still writes.

I had used it to road-test a sample of Diamine Beau Blue, but found the color too light for a regular nib. So I switched the cart into a Rotring Artpen.

But the DJ is still writing on fumes, three days later. It has a feed that won't quit. Not that I,m trying to sell you on this odd little seven-dollar pen. Or maybe I am.

I wrote with three really great vintage pens today:

(1) Parker 51 "Fantasy" aerometric with grey marble barrel and blue diamond clip, and an unbelievable broad italic nib - WOW. This one's a real favorite. Inked with Iroshizuku Yama-Guri.
(2) Conway-Stewart 15 in green pearl with a flex broad nib. Too cool. Inked with Noodler's Zhivago.
(3) Sheaffer Targa in fluted gold-plate with medium nib. Smooth as a baby's bottom (but fortunately the nib isn't shaped that way!) It's got that magical Sheaffer upward curve on the inlaid nib, like Ali Baba's shoes. A dream writer. Inked with DeAtramentis Indigo Blue.

Very smooth nib. The section is a bit odd because the nib axis ends up higher than the section axis. Totally opposite what is usual for a fountain pen. It does make it easier to see what you are writing but totally throws my hand eye coordination off. :p

Behold:

Wall Street Limited Edition in burgundy

Actually, Bogon, that DeAtramentis Black-Brown is too reddish for me. Didn't expect that. (Reminds me of Diamine's Oxblood, which at least tells it like it is).

I've also gotten some other inks lately that I'm not impressed with, color-wise.
Some of them are:

Sailor's Epinard - too much brown "mud", which represents the shadowing, mixed in with the nice green.
Private Reserve's Ebony Blue - don't like that halo of teal peeking out from a sea of black. And I'm just not a teal fan. But, YMMV.
Noodler's Galileo Manuscript Brown - decent, but the brown/red of it remains undefined to my eye.
J.Herbin's Lie de The - the verdict's not in on this one for me. Seems to lack saturation and it's kind of dull. When I see it near Iroshizuku's Yama-Guri, Diamine's Maron or R&K's Sepia, I want to chuck the bottle (but of course I don't).

Just my 2˘...

Yes, the Visconti Wall Street in burgundy's a stunner. Thanks!

Unfortunately my x450 didn't survive my weekend away! Through a series of unfortunate events the barrel was crushed under the wheel of my father in law's Hanomag. Thankfully the nib was unharmed. Think I might have an Asian themed week penwise to commemorate her!

My Italix Parson's Essential also came out of storage today and joined my daily-carry case. It's a fine italic and I love it. Their nib custom work is top notch. Only if the clip is not such a death-grip, I would have bought 2 or 3 more in other sizes.

This pen arrived in a "parts lot" with the tines of the nib splayed at nearly a 90-degree angle....this is my first attempt at using a burnisher and jeweler's anvil. Still has a wave in it, but works well enough for use at work today :-)

Tracy Lee, John & KI,
The digitised photocopy doesn't do it justice. It is a little bit brighter & a very close match to the blue celluloid of my Wall Street. The thing that could annoy some is the striping on the barrel is not at 90degrees to the axis giving it the appearance of a screw thread. The stripes on the cap are much closer to 90 degrees.

The 18K B nib really puts down a big wet line and has an amount of spring to it as well.

Hey thats a nice case!

All my cases use the bands to secure the pens in them.

It depends on the size of the pen. Larger pens like my Nakaya Long Cigar or Pelikan M1000 or MB 149, etc., fit comfortably but snugly. Smaller pens like the Nakaya Piccolo or Pelikan M400 can rattle around a bit. There is a full length stiff divider between the slots so the pens never touch one another; the slots are lined with a soft, felt-like material; and the flap closes securely. Even though smaller pens have some wiggle room, they are secure and I haven't experienced any scratches. I've been using an Aston hard sided case more or less daily for at least four years. When I want to carry more than three pens, I use a Franklin Christoph Penvelope, but three is my usual daily carry and this case just works for me.

The surreal side of it is why I was so keen on getting one! It writes very well; a wet semiflex medium stub. Very expressive. There is a famous story of an excavation of a WWI trench in France where they found a soldier's body, and his safety pen, which still wrote, nearly 100 years later!
