3 Viscontis I've never heard of before. Very cool!
The R.M. Millenium and the Ashford are very much like the old VanGogh Maxi except for the metal trim and having ever so slightly pointier ends. They also have a subtle flatten area on the cap under the clip.
The clip on the Millenium has a long slot were the VanGogh has VISCONTI while the Ashford a series of holes.
4208

The Ashford also has a different nib to the usual Visconti ones - is very plain not even the size is shown. This one is a medium-fine

That really is a nondescript nib for a Visconti. Your assessment of the similarities otherwise is spot on. I still haven't inked my Millennium! Need to do that . . '.

I can't believe I haven't complemeted you on that pen yet. WOW is all I can say! The flex looks amazing, and I love how you (or someone) highlighted the imprint in yellow. I should do something like that, but in red, to my 14s saftey.

The imprint is filled with gold to match the trim. I'm not sure if it's original to the pen but is sure is snazzy!

Careful my Visconti problems started with a blue stripe WallStreet.

The Green WallStreets would probably be the easiest to find.
Older models like the Copernicus and Manhattan also come in that type of celluloid.
Or if you want to make a serious dent in your pen budget the Chatterley Pen's Cosmopolitan LEs. :)

I've only used one pen all week, which is extremely rare for me. I just can't put it down, and I love this nib with an iron-gall ink: Nakaya Naka-ai Writer in kuro-tamenuri, BB stub nib, Montblanc Blue-black (the older version of Midnight Blue).

Here is an old photo of the Nakaya alongside a Kullock 51 and a raden Vanishing Point:

Yikes...wrote some letters yesterday, used two LE Safaris, Aquamarine B and Neon 1.1, with Diamine Beau Blue and JH Vert Pre respectively. And they're written out.

Switched to a Guanleming 193 with MB Toffee Brown, only to find it needed repeat dipping because that was written out, too.

Threee pens went to the cleaner's.

Then I switched to my Peli Jr. with BSB. No. That one had not run dry. Instead, it leaked for the first time. Going to the cleaner's tomorrow.

Next...loaded a Hero 86 with Iro ku-jaku. So far I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Bogon, I agree the CP1 looks good with that cap. I still need to make a black stub for mine. One of the reasons I like the black is the fingerprints don't show. Same with the Lamys with brushed metal. Your Delta looks really nice. How do you like the Fusion nib? That ink window adds a nice touch. I have not seen that model before. I guess I have not been paying to much attention to Delta's line up.

KI, yes the matt black CP1 is a very easy care pen compared to the platinum giuilloche version. I can imagine the platinum Studio would be an obssessive's nightmare with its smooth shiny finish.

The Delta is a Limited Edition from Chatterley Luxuries/PenTime. There are around 18 different ones in editions of 10. The nib is a stiff one and reminds me of using a rapidograph technical pen. Quite smooth to use.
https://chatterleyluxuries.com/product-category/delta-chatterley-pens-star-collection/

Your Faber-Castell looks good and appears to produce a nice line.

Today's work pen is the R.M. Stipula (18K M nib) with Kon-peki. Unfortunately the photocopier doesn't capture the pen's turquoise pearlescent look. A very comfortable pen to use despite the odd appearance of having the barrel taper on either side of the metal band combined with a straight cap.

The nib does have a little bit of spring in it when pushed. The pen is my least wet Visconti and will write a lot finer with no or little pressure but the line seems less consistent particularly if I'm over-writing. This nib feels more like a steel nib than a gold one and is less smooth than the Dali Fine steel nib.

It has been a Delta day, with my newest from the pen show (not sure what to call it?), and my oversize that I use as an eyedropper and lately have been just pouring in my sample vials to try and get a sense of those. Right now I believe it holds DA Jane Austen. Kind of a mossy, dense forest type of green. Quite lovely.

That sounds like a super cool (iron gall?) ink! In your experience, do you have to be more careful with it in terms of preventing clogging, etc?

TWSBI Vac 700 with Visconti Sepia.

A pleasant and comfortable writer with both the medium and fine nibs I tried today. The Sepia looks alright too and I would say it's a sound middle-of-the road brown colour.

One thing I would say about the pen is, for me, I prefer it unposted. Maybe because I am still getting used to the weight of fountain pens but I found it a little top heavy and that fact was always on my mind with the cap posted. I seemed to relax and get a better writing flow going (for where I am with my handwriting development, anyway!) when I took the cap off.

Yes, it's iron gall, and I've certainly fallen for it in a big way on short acquaintance. From what I've seen so far the flow is somewhere between the R+K iron galls and MB Midnight Blue - a bit on the dry side as you'd expect, but not reluctant or prone to clogging. It flows off a dip nib beautifully, by the way - really tight hairlines too. SandyS has a typically exhaustive (and entertaining) review (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/205705-ecclesiastical-stationery-supplies-registrars-ink/) at that other forum. :)

It is slightly less yellow under the fluro lights at work and the gold veins stand out more too.

KI - it is more jade like than the photocopy - the lighter green is a whiter rather than yellower green if that makes sense.
The gold band on the barrel is the where the blind cap joins.

In keeping with the crushed quartz marble plastic look. Today's pen is a Visconti RM Hampton Crimson/Purple/blue Quartz with Stub and Noodler's Blue American Eel.
The bubbling noise of the power filler made Mrs Bogon wonder what I was doing last night; she initially thought I may have been guzzling ink like Azizah of Gourmet Pens fame.
The stub nib is a bit of a challenge to use. It needs to be at the correct angle or it gushes or dries up. It writes much better if used right-handed :(

So pretty!! Rebecca Moss really has a lot of nice Visconti's.

Your experience with the stub nib sounds exactly the same as mine with a Visconti Pd 23K broad nib. Though I cannot see from the photo, the engraving pattern on the nib looks like a palladium nib.

I once consulted Mr Greg Minuskin on this, he replied:

Here is your problem with this pen. The 23k nib; The nib is too soft. Put too much of the "wrong" pressure on it, and the tines spread too far apart, not enough, too dry. That is why the alloy ratio on a 14k or 18k nib is just right for most hands, and the real reason why those gold nibs were, and still are, used till this day.
Not sure if it's relevant to your challenge, but I thought it won't hurt to mention it. :p

Thanks Kiasnowbird, the photocopier and PDF to jpeg conversion is so wonky you can't see the nib properly but it is a 18K Gold two-tone nib. I think it maybe too soft for a a stub used left-handed. It works better if used for italic type printing rather than cursive.

There is another RM Hampton 'Rose Quartz' which is pink and white that looks even better.

I love the look of that pen but in the closeups of the cap on other reviews I just looked up it seems their is silver lettering that is quite pronounced. Is it as pronounced as the close-ups make it look or is it perhaps more subtle as you would expect on an all black pen?

It is silver on black so it is easy to spot. The top of the cap has the Monteverde logo and the cap "band" says "Monteverde USA" and "Invincia". I don't think it screams at you but it is noticeable. If you don't like that, the Goulet's Invincia Nighthawk may be more to your liking. The silver elements on the regular stealth are just engraved on the Nighthawk. http://www.gouletpens.com/Monteverde_Invincia_Deluxe_Nighthawk_p/mv41350.htm

I don't usually get to write a lot at work (not counting doodling while talking on the phone) and finally I could use up some of the ink that's been swishing inside my Pilot Custom Heritage 92 demonstrator for days.
Another benefit of the demonstrator -- when a speaker delivered a whole hour of monotone mediocrity :lazy2:, I had something pretty to look at and play with.

It is an alluring translucent yellowish grey with sections of vertebra showing through. There is a minor downside of the Serentity blue really showing through on the inside of the cap if you are a bit sloppy when putting it on. You can make out the black insert in the top half of the cap and the nib can touch the inside about 1/8" or 2-3mm before it to leave an ink mark. I cleaned it twice before I could control the urge, actually I must have gotten better at putting the cap on.

Kiasnowbird , that is an impressive selection of pens and inks you used and you covered a spectrum of colours too.

Unlike the modern ones they come with a 14K Gold Nib rather than a steel.
The Musk Green pens can look individually very different from one another due to the green/brown/tan mix.

Kai, there is something very appealing about your Spalding. The contrast of the colour of the maple wood to the tone of metal and the font of the printing.

Unfortunately Montblancs still don't call to me. They look like the sort of pen used by funeral directors in my mind.

Still adore the Vista, my first FP.

Kai, there is something very appealing about your Spalding. The contrast of the colour of the maple wood to the tone of metal and the font of the printing.

I should say that the actual colour is a bit more orange, less tangerine, and the wood grain a bit clearer than in the picture. It's by no means an expensive pen ($37) and feels that way too. The maple wood feels a bit too light.

Unfortunately Montblancs still don't call to me. They look like the sort of pen used by funeral directors in my mind.

Ouch. Heheh... Montblanc ball points remind me of real estate agents, but I'm more forgiving towards the FPs, especially when they have juicy buttery smooth nibs -- everything else is negotiable.

I used a pen I imagine I'm going to start using a lot more now. It's my Jinhao 159 but I just replaced the nib with a Goulet 1.1mm Stub. The feed might be a bit slow for it so I might look to fix that in the future but with average speed it seems to keep up fine.

It's now a fat pen with a fat nib.

Cool, I tried the GPC fine in my 159 and it did a "fine" job. I think I may try the 1.1 but in the Konrad. Then if I like it I could adjust the feed to flow more if necessary by deepening the channel.

I took my new Sailor Pro Gear to work for the first time yesterday, attended a seminar and got to take some notes with it. I just love the feeling when writing with the 21K medium nib - smooooooth, juicy, reasonably fine line and 'soft'. Not flexible or springy, just a gentle, soft sensation, as if the nib was caressing the pages. :hippie:

For some reasons, my handwriting looked a little sloppier than usual though - tend to happen when I write quickly with a very smooth nib.

Hey Mr Bogon, that's a pretty good guess.
I honestly didn't know about Noodler's Nightshade (What a cool ink name!) until you mentioned it. Judging by Google search results, I'd say they are very close.

Not yet, actually. I exercise some degree of caution. For example, I hardly ever mix iron gall ink, and when an ink is pretty concentrated, I make sure it's diluted before being mixed with other ink. Besides, I rarely have a pen inked with the same stuff for more than a week and every inked pen gets used every day. So the risk is quite manageable. :)

Sat down this morning and completed my letter to a lovely lady in Canada who was wanting to know more about her husband's grandfather, a local writer named The Largy Ploughman Poet, Samuel Connor.

I am lucky enough to live not too far from his home place and was friendly with another local author, Conly George who knew a great deal about Sam and his family. As well as his book on Connor, Conly told me a few stories too so I tried to include as much as I could remember properly as well as taking some photographs. Everything will be posted tomorrow, all being well.

Now I can finally read it properly, with new notebooks to jot down any reading notes. I'd better not waste away my free time.

Hey Mr Bogon, your white tiger has arrived and is looking good. :) How do you like it?

Very impressed with it for the price. I'm using the screw converter rather than the bulb/bar one but it seems to have a smallish ink capacity. The nib is very smooth and so far a good writer. The body colour is more of a whitish silver rather than a glittery white like the Lamy Studio, the tiger stripes are a darker grey silver and the whole effect is more subtle than you would expect from the photos. The smooth lacquer finish is pleasingly tactile combined with the the curving shape of the pen.

I used my TWSBI Vac 700 Fine nib (and their notebook) today to make a record of all my shaving stuff.

Decided to load it up with a new ink and went with Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-ryoku (Forest Green). I'd only sampled this ink though a glass pen, where it came out a little darker, but what a gorgeous colour from a fountain pen

I've taken a shine to this TWSBI model and think the Vac 700 is a beautiful, handy pen. With this rich green colour, it makes for a sweet combination. I also used Visconti Sepia with another Vac 700 and they're always a joy to write with.

An old Morriset dip pen.
Kinda fun writing with a pen that is way older than me.
The F nib was too fine for me, but the M nib was just right.
Now to find a Morriset inkwell to go with the pens.

I used a similar dip pen in college. It was an el-cheap-o from the drug store, but it wrote surprisingly well.

I've been playing around with my Faber-Castell Ambition in Coconut wood for the last couple of days. It's an interesting pen. FC has some really interesting designs these days. (It looks very mid-century Danish design to me.) Inked it up with MB Irish Green, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite greens.

I used my Pelikan M600 Black & Blue with a fine nib and Visconti Turquoise ink at home this evening and, earlier at work, my Pelikan M300 with a fine nib and Edelstein Turmaline ink (on my first run out with a new A6 Rhodia Webbie DOT - a great little pocket book)

Also, my Sailor 1911 Realo Maroon with a Medium nib and Pilot Iroshizuku take-sumi ink to write some reminder notes a few minutes ago.

Cleaned and put away my Parker 51, inked up my Waterman Expert III with a no-brand purple pink cartridge. A burst of fun colour.

For a very humble looking steel nib, the Waterman Expert is actually a great writer. It's a birthday gift from my best friend, so it has sentimental value too.

Early this morning, I loaded up my new TWSBI 580 fine nib with Pilot Iroshizuku asa-gao and set to writing.

It's a very fine writer, even compared to my other TWSBI fines, and I know now what folk mean by laying down a dry line rather than a gusher. I honestly thought it wasn't going to keep running at the start but it wrote and wrote. As well as a few doodles on my notepad at the start, I filled three sides of A4 and it finished as it started.

The size and comfort of the pen are both excellent so the only thing I have to do is look into the tutorials about how to make a nib write a little wetter. I'll maybe give that trick a go with this one.

That's the one I always admired!

Today, a nail-hard Wing Sung with about half my remaining sample of Noodler's BSIER. Can that baby shade, even in such a nib.

Just my usual home notes and reminders with the TWSBI 580, fine nib and Pilot Iroshizuku asa-gao ink.

Also, I wanted to try out the Caran d’Ache Delicate Green ink so I used my RNX.316 for that. I had a notion of some writing with this colour a little over the Christmas season. It's fairly bright though so I'm torn between using this or the Iroshizuku shin-ryoku. I'll have to try them later in good daylight with a nice white paper like G. Lalo Velin de France or Artoz Artoline to see which I prefer.

Today's work pen is the gloss red Jinhao15 with a hooded EF/F nib loaded full of Noodler's Beaver. I not usually too keen on reddish browns but I find I like Beaver more and more each time I use it.

Only two pens inked today:
1. Pilot Custom Heritage 92 F/M nib, a mixed ink that I can't find a perfect word to describe the colour. It's between this and this.
2. my newly acquired Parker Vacumatic Major (Gold) with a slightly flexible EF nib. Inked with 'Umber' from Justwrite.com.au.
