The Ragtime has a captive converter. You have to unscrew the barrel endcap to access the end of it to fill or empty the pen. The grip section is firmly attached to the barrel and so is the converter. Tandaina had one that leaked, I think Bryant from PenTime was able to unscrew the section with a lot of force for her.

Yup, actually didn't take much force at all. And I can now unscrew it like a normal cart pen. :/

Also cleaned out two of my Lamy Safaris for the beginning of the university term, and loaded them with (apple green) Namiki Black and (neon coral) J. Herbin's Eclat de Saphir.

Thanks Ging Ging, it's probably my favorite modern MB design. This one also sports a oblique double broad nib, which I thought would show off the Stormy Grey to great effect. But, I don't think I shook the bottle enough before filling the pen as the gold shimmer is rather subtle. Oh well, I'll try to get it right on the second fill.

How does it perform.
They should have done a stylographic nib like Visconti did - which runs like a super smooth rollerball.

Yep, they are 38mm or 1.5" long - it is a small pen (123mm capped or 110mm uncapped). Might try a Kaweco converter or a Monteverde mini.

I returned a couple of days ago from a trip; my only fountain pens were a Pilot Custom Heritage 91 and a Platinum 3776 Century, both with their respective black cartridges.

Those pens still got used a bit today, but I have now filled two more, my Montblanc Noblesse, reground medium nib, with Sailor Jentle Shigure and my fine-nibbed Vanishing Point with Pilot Blue-Black. The cartridge pens should be emptied pretty soon. What next?

Montblanc Noblesse, reground medium nib, Sailor Jentle Shigure ink. I know some people find a fountain pen this slim to be uncomfortable, but I can write with it for hours. It is about as slim as fountain pens get, though, isn't it? Compare with the pen below it, my always there Fisher Space Pen. Well, sometimes I carry a different one of the same model, but I like the fine blue refill in this one. I don't write with it very much, but if I want a ballpoint for some reason, it's there.

The acrylic in this pen is fabulous; at first glance it seems a solid red but a closer inspection reveals light/dark swirls and slightly translucent areas. The part of the cap with the printing has a more whitish opaque look to it as well.

@Hector I was waiting to see this after you got it back... especially with the "C" nib and that giant hunk of iridium hanging off it.

Dan must have been able to grind a cliff on that thing.

Any closeups of the nib?

Your handwriting with it looks unreal. Hopefully in a few years with daily practice I can get mine to look somewhat like that. Incredibly neat and refined.

Yesterday I used a pen I got from my pen pal for Christmas (she was far far too generous). I knew it was a Pelikan Pelikano because that's what the pen said, but it didn't look like what I've seen on Amazon (where I put it on my wish list). I looked it up on the Pelikan website and eventually found it on the history page. The one I have was manufactured from 2000-2003. That's the most "vintage" pen I have. I love it too.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/2jvEcgoK9OOCLkE0lHMN2_HHVtglG72r3P1aMdGmat8=w958-h367-no
She also sent it with three cartridges (and they are HUGE).

I wasn't too impressed by the Galleria yellow, orange and black scheme on the DolceVita. Maybe is was the ornate metal work but to me it looks much nicer with this simpler gunmetal finish.
I rather like the fusion nibs, they seem smoother more refined than the regular Delta steel nibs. Quite stiff.
Although I wish Delta had matched the gold shield on the nib with the rest of the gunmetal hardware.

These little elephant rocker blotters are easy to find for not too much money, probably old enough to be called "vintage" if not antique. I like mine, and another in the shape of a Scotty dog, but I don't have to do much blotting, generally, unless I'm using my dip pens.

At last I've got the set, all three Kaigelu 316's, the amber/black, the white/black and finally the black/navy, which arrived on Saturday. This morning I did the Richard Williams conversion on this one, removing the stupidly heavy brass finial and replacing with the lightweight acrylic one that Richard makes (check out this thread on FPN: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/262645-im-curious-how-many-of-us-have-kaigelu-316s/ ). The Chinese seem to have improved the quality of the glue they use and this morning I really struggled to get the brass finial out, in the end I had to immerse the pen in boiling water for five minutes to soften it, the acrylic then slightly rearranged itself into a less than cylindical shape, as I gently applied the pliers, oh dear... thankfully I managed to restore it to a nearly round shape! The new one is inked with Diamines majestic blue and performs admirably, as they all do, stunning value for £15.00 each.

I've been traveling, personal time off to take care of personal business, not really a vacation. I just took a no-fuss fountain pen, the Platinum 3776 Century, with a box of blue-black cartridges.

But now I'm back, and it's time to bring in one of my vintage pens, Moore L-82 with Sailor Jentle Doyou. Honestly, I have better, but I like its "character".

Italix Parson's Essential (black), M italic, diluted Parker Black
Waterman Carene (blue lacquer), F nib, J Herbin Eclat de Saphir

I'm going on a flight following by a road trip for 5 days after tomorrow and I'm in the mood for a slim understated cartridge converter pen. So I inked up a Montblanc Classic (burgundy), Fine nib, with diluted PR Ebony Purple. However, it's a very juicy F, writes borderline B.
Maybe I should reconsider.

Stipula Passaporto, eyedropper filled with Pilot Blue. I've put so much work into resolving flow problems with this, that I kind of have to like it.;) Works well now.

Mabie Todd Swan 54 (American) with Pilot Blue Black. You also develop an attachment to vintage pens that you restore yourself. This one is pretty successful in any case. The nib is rigid, but very smooth.

Back to work after a week's break today and was told that there might be 60+ letters on my desk waiting to be signed. My colleagues were surprised that I would be open to such a task and thought I would much prefer to issue letters via email. (Ridiculous!)

I had a Parker Vacumatic (silver pearl) with a 0.6 mm stub by Greg Minuskin inked up with a fairly old and very concentrate bottle of Parker Quink Blue ready to go.

And there was no letters waiting for me.

"Give us a couple more days, Kai."
"We need to run another check."
"You might not have to sign so many letters after all. Perhaps just a dozen."

Yes, purple is one of my favorite colors! It's hard for me to resist a pretty purple pen--I was determined not to get the spring Premiere... until I saw that it was purple. The shimmery, slightly transparent acrylic is even more beautiful in person. And then the same thing happened with the new TWSBI 580 AL. I kept telling myself that I don't need it, really, really don't need another pen... and then I saw the Goulets' photos and it turns out to be the perfect shade of lavender purple... You can see from that photo how much willpower I have... :)

Thanks Deb. Yes, the top 3 all made the journey with me to Australia. It was a very difficult decision to narrow down my choices (to around 14 pens), but these 3 were always going to make the cut. All have superb nibs, especially the W5 & the Calligraph.
The Baoer is a recent acquisition. It writes brilliantly, especially since Murfie gave the fine nib a great italic edge for me :)
