Hi Geeks,

This is the thread for the M101N Red Tortoise (official serial number: GS 101N) I just received mine today and took only quick snaps, so I'll be updating this thread later. Feel free to ask questions, post your own pics of the pen etc.

Tony.... that looks stunning.

From the Pen Depot ???

Really looking forward to seeing you post some of those amazing photos you take.

But more curious as to what you think of it. How it writes and a size comparison.

Congrats !!!

WOW!

Edit: I keep staring at those pictures. It is hypnotizing. I remember looking at vintage examples of that pen and wishing that if they would only make a modern one...
And now they have and I talked myself out of getting one. While I still remember the logic that said no, it is getting harder stick to that decision.

That is one really nice pen.

Fantastic! Beautiful pen, and I love the M101N nibs.

I have a question: is the trim slightly orange, in real life?

It looks a bit orange on my screen, too (perhaps a deep salmon color?) It appears about the same in the video review posted on sbrebrown.com earlier today.

No. I got mine from one of the European retailers, it was my first time dealing with this one. I tend to spread my business around, and try out each of their services. I had it preordered months ago. I have not inked it, I am flat out tired. Perhaps later this week.

Thanks buddy.

Please pardon my lousy snaps. It's really more like deep maroon in real life. I deliberately took the first shot under a direct natural fading sunlight, in contrast with the darker shadows on the second one. Hoping that you can judge how it looks under real world situations. As opposed to the Pelikan colour calibrated studio stock photos.

Again, it's really red. IMHO, spot on like the fresh originals, without the risk of oxidising of course. I reckon Pelikan have outdone themselves in matching colours. I took this pic for you, Laura :)

This is my favourite of the three (not counting the awful one with the 'diamonds' in) and the EF nib on mine writes like a dream. Currently using Edelstein Tanzanite in it. A lovely little pen.

Absolutely agree. It is becoming quite irresistible to me (and I suspect very much to Jeph too).

I must be blind - I did not notice the tortoise resin was twisting along the barrel before. Fascinating effect.

So I have mine since November and was about to finally do a review and noticed a slight crack where the Tortoise meets the ring between it and the piston knob.
While very minor I fear it may grow. I think since it is not a moving part they just applied too much pressure during assembly.

Otherwise it is beautiful and has a very wet bold nib.

The pen should still be under warranty, so send it back for repair.
