My wife and I were checking out some nearby antique malls and I found a nice boxed Sheaffer fountain pen and pencil set for a reasonable price. My research leads me to believe it's a Sheaffer Touchdown TM Crest Deluxe set. They needed just a light cleaning and polishing to bring them back to my standards, but the pen is going to need a filler restoration.

This will be my first attempt at a Touchdown restoration. I've done quite a few lever- and button-fillers, so it seems to be time to tackle something a bit more complex.

Yes, a decent looking example. Out of interest in my experience black in good condition isn't that easy to find.

Unlike HughC, I'm a total novice on Sheaffer's. But recently I restored a totally beaten up snorkel back to life by following the instructions on Richard Binder's site, like this one for the Touchdown (http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/repair/touchdown.htm). Good luck!
