I want to share my latest Parker 51.

It's a burgundy aerometric half demonstrator. The hood is translucent plastic.

Mine was made in 1950. According to Ernesto at Parker51.Com, at the bottom of this page (http://www.parker51.com/demos.html), these were distributed to people whose "part in selling the new Parker 51 was so important." I suppose they could demonstrate how the pen worked.

Mine was in fact used. It was filled with bright blue ink which needed a fair amount of cleaning. The tiniest bit inside the collector wouldn't come out, which you can see from the right (or wrong) angle.

I'm really happy with how it cleaned up, though, and just delighted to have it.

One more interesting thing. It's a Demi. Here's a photo with a burgundy full-size 51 in the back, and this Demi in the front.

Nice! Did you take it apart to clean it?

Oh yes. This one's hood was hard to remove due to dried ink. I had to keep in mind Jon Szanto's excellent advice about the importance of patience. That's not a natural state with me. :) Especially with this one, which I was really eager to see not filled with bright blue ink.

Very nice. Personally, Demonstrator's do not interest me. However, this half demonstrator is beautiful. I'll have to look for one for my collection.

Oh, what an exquisite pen! It has been a long time since I saw one of these, and the others were full sized and black. To get one in burgundy is marvelous, and the demi size is interesting. Great job cleaning the pen up!

Patience and a lot of soaking are the best course. Some of the hoods are pretty hard to get off, and the last thing you would want to do is warp one of these hoods from excessive heat. A great job and thanks for sharing.

What excellent photos you take Laura! I can even make out the USA imprint!
