Paper for Fountain Pens now has a B5 Journal for $44 and I'd like to buy 2 - except the postage is $60!!
However for this shipping cost you can get up to 12 Journals delivered.
So I suggest that others may wish to join me in a Group order, the journals will be delivered to me and I will send them on within the UK.
Any takers?

Will you only know the exact price for each one on receipt?

The Journals are $44, the shipping cost will be $6 each from the US = $50. This is approx £32.
The VAT/Customs fee would be 20% (if charged) = £6.40 plus £8 handling fee, so assuming it is charged that would be £6.40+£0.66 each.
Total £39.06 each plus UK postage. Small Parcel confirmed delivery = £ 3.90 2nd class or £4.30 1st class.
So total cost = £42.96 or £43.36 (at most).

alc, at the risk of going OT, you would be losing money on your calculation. Assuming 12 journals the total 'Vatable' value (including shipping!) of the parcel at the current HM R&C rate converts to £360.18. That will be the value that VAT is charged on. So the total would be £432.22 plus your £8, which I assume you know for sure because it sounds very cheap. I think it's more likely to be £13. You could save a bit by just using ordinary RM 1st or 2nd class when you dispatch. Signatures aren't worth the extra, and you're still covered by RM with a COP.

The saving on the UK postage there would be pence. The concern would be the amount of VAT which could be charged and Yes I did forget to include the shipping in that. I'll have a re-calculate.

Correction I did calculate VAT at 20% of the Journal price + Shipping $50=£32.

Total cost to reach me £468.80 plus UK postage £3.90 or £4.30
Cost per Journal £39.06 plus Postage

My calculations in bold.

Glad it works out. If you need the exact conversion rate that HM C&E use on any given day, it is Here. (http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageImport_RatesCodesTools)

It would all depend on the day the package hits HMRC!!

Those rates apply until the end of October. In November they will change for that month.
