I allow myself to show you an ebonite fountain pen I have finished today.
Raden (abalone) particles are sprinkled into wet Roiro (black) urushi lacquer.
After hardening a thick coat of Roiro-urushi is applied and dried over a period of several days.
Then the surface is ground and polished.
Normally for raden-nashiji the pre-polished surface is impregnated/saturated with Kijiomi-urushi several times and then finally polished. This prcess is called "uwazuri"or "roiro shiage" On this pen I have applied a solid final layer of highly transparen so called "skari-urushi" that was again treated "uwazuri". The advantage is, that the surface is completely smooth and the raden particles are not laying on the surface.

That is stunningly beautiful. I'm curious if you sell your pens and what a pen like this would cost? (My wallet doesn't want to know, but I do.) ;)

Do you make the nibs for these pens?

If not, can you say who makes the nib?

Hi Bleair,
I used Bock nibs in the past but changed to Jowo nibs recently.

Very nice sleek and smooth look to it. Would look even more lovely with a two-toned nib (in my opinion anyways).

Thank you KBeezie,

Two-toned nib would bsolutely be acceptable. My pens for retail are delivered with 18 kt. gold nibs. But for customers ordering from me, there are many additional options of coars.
