I have a pen with a damaged nib and want to replace it.
1) How do I remove the shell from the nib housing? I have been soaking it to no avail. I heard one can heat it in boiling water, is this OK? I realize it unscrews.
2) How do I remove the feed and nib from the shell? Is it press fit?
Please excuse my crude termonology and basic questions.
Tank you.

Hawk-

The specifics are going to depend on the exact 21 you have.

21s are known for brittle plastic in the hood and barrel. Parker provided the entire front end as a replacement part for the early 21s, I assume because they were fragile.

Post a picture and we can go from there.

Hot water (150F or less), not boiling, and unless it's a Super 21 with the more resilient plastic, it's better to stick with dry heat at a temperature your own fingers can tolerate.

I attempted to use heat as suggested with no luck. Since I have another nib assembly I cut the shroud off and found the threads coated with blue stuff, similar to Permatex. I can't find a parting line near the threads but it looks like the nib and feed might separate. Any comments?
