Skip to the 4:09 mark. I copied the URL with the time stamp, but it doesn't seem to work that way on this forum. (anyone know how to get the video box on here to do that?)

With the arrival of new inks, are there certain pens that "volunteer" for service?

For example, with the Organics studio inks, I am using some Serwex piston pens. I don't see putting Manganate V in my Edison until I know the ink truly is safe.

Which pens fills that role for you?

My Chinese pens are my GP's :). Every one has a nib. :p

Lamy Al-Star with a 1.1mm italic nib. Easy to clean, nice nib size to see what an ink will look like, and no great loss if there's a problem.

Tombow Object (M nib): Pretty wet, easy to clean (friction-fit nib + feed), C/C

I never really though of this... when i get samples, i usually dip test them and do a mini-review. If i like the ink, i always use my M200 for its reliability and i can throw it around and nothing will happen.

My M205 (or is it M200, I don't know.) usually volunteers to be a guinea pig on inks. I know its a solid pen that is reliable. Whenever I see the need to test out ink, the the Pelikan I go. Also, it is my BSB Pen, since the black feed and barrel can't be stained, and it is easy to clean out!

Yeah..I think when I finally budge and get a bottle of noodlers, I might buy a cheap chinese one to test nathan's inks in. Don't want to ruin the Lamy 2k!

Ooops! Looks like the video has been blocked by Fox....:big_boss:

My guinea pig pen is a Sheaffer NoNonsense fountain pen with a Broad italic nib, so I can see the ink in all its glory....:D
