I've really gotten postage-focused this year and discovered a world of buying usable postage stamps on ebay. You can get some great old ones that are lots of fun to use on letters. My latest purchase though was just plain-old-forever-stamps....but instead of paying $49.00 for a roll of 100 I found a buy-it-now for $44.50:

There are still some left. My roll came very quickly and it's free shipping so I thought I'd pass it on.

Chicago's Stamp King has an eBay store -- sells older unused stamps at less than face value. It's awesome.

I especially like the odd forever stamps that everyone forgot about--like my Edgar Rice Burroughs "Tarzan" stamps!

My personal record, though not on eBay is 120 for 228.68 in valid postage.

None were collector quality but all unused. Hundreds of 2, 3, 5, and 8 cent stamps.

I know a stamp dealer so I have a source. I'm told when buying common US stamps that are not really collector quality or are simply to common to worry about, 80-85% of face value is a good deal but you need to buy a LOT of stamps. It takes a long time to use postage up even when a Priority Box is 5.95...

Yep, I had to buy quite a few for my deal from the Stamp King. The more you spend, the more you save, right?

I paid $93.75 for $124 in stamps; that's 76% of face value. Not as good as your score, Farmboy, but still, not too shabby.

So...How many of us have faked a postcard from 1937 using an appropriate 1 cent stamp and gotten away with it?

Hahaha, that might just be YOU. :) ...but now that you've mentioned it I might have to try.

I've got a bunch of these:
