Greetings! I've been thinking about giving calligraphy a try in an effort to add some flourish to my writing. I have seen calligraphy pen sets at places like Hobby Lobby and am curious if that would be a good, cost-effective way to give it a try. Does anyone have experience with the Schaeffer pen sets they offer? Thanks in advance!

I think you'd be better looking elsewhere, I got the Sheaffer set and it was nasty :(

The NOS Sheaffer calligraphy pens based on the No Nonsense are good, though. Sort of a cultish pen, lol.

Try Peyton Street Pens, or various fleabay sellers.

Decent quality modern pens with italic nibs include the Lamy Safari, the Nemosine Singularity, and there was a set from Hero a while back that had about three or four interchangeable sections. I had that set at one point.

Ok, right...
