I have to admit I know very little about Zhenhao as a make or manufacture. For that matter I’m not sure whether it is Zhenhao or Zhen Hao, but either way they seem to make a nice pen.

The Zhenhao 928 is not going to win any awards for modern or initiative design more edging toward the tradition as it does. Pen construction is all metal, including the grip section. The barrel tappers down from 12mm to 8mm along its length with a wide gold ring toward the base. The cap supports a nicely styled gold colour clip and is a good push fit which is accompanied by a reassuring click.

Where the 928 does score some brownie points is the grip section and nib. The grip section is very finely patterned, which seem to be more decorative that functional, a gold colour hood over the nib gives a air of class to the pen. It comes with a converter (looks like the Parker style) which I personnel dislike and would replace right from the start and of course can take international standard cartridges.

I found the pen a little top heavy when posted, but over all a good weight at only 20 grams (with out the cap 32g with the cap) as I do like my fountain pens on the lighter side. In a writing test I found the pen a touch dry but not unduly so, the nib produce a fine line with no line variation at all and was a touch scratchy.

Over all a nice look pen that is not going to win any awards, but I loved the hooded nib and grip section. A little work on the nib and you have one fine looking useful fountain pen.
