View Full Version : Are the new Lamy 200 nibs, post 2004, different?

Hi Everyone,

I bought my first fountain pen, a Lamy 2000, maybe 8-9 years ago. It was a medium nib and had a good uniform line width no matter how I wrote with it... up-down-strokes and left-right-stroke.

The nib was damaged and repaired by Lamy. Now the left-right-stroke is thinner than the up-down-stroke.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Dave

That is typical of a stub, cursive italic or italic nib. See the nib grinding thread in the repair forum for further info. :)

Hi Ivan:
Yes, I would agree that is the standard fair for a Stub.

It seems as though the nib design has changed "around" 2009-2010. I had a friends Lamy 2000 (pre-2010 nib) and my Lamy 2000 (with a Lamy replaced post-2010 nib). Pics below.

The design seems to go from a "flat cut" nib design at about a 30-45 degree angle, to a "ballpoint" rounded type of design. There is a difference. I don't like the new styled nib. Writes weird to me.

I loved my Lamy 2000 (old styled nib). It made me a FPGeek. Sad to say I may have to part ways. :(

You could always send it off to a nibmeister to get ground the way you like. Show them your old sample and have them match it.

I've decided to night to retire the 2000. It was a good pen. :) Now I'll use my Lamy Brilliant Accent pen that I have grew fonder of over the 2000.

Ivan,
Thanks for the input.
