I just saw an auction for an interesting Duofold with a clip that has the "D" missing in Duofold. Is this some non-factory replacement clip or a factory error?

I assume you mean that it has the "P" missing in Parker.

Looks like the clip has been polished rather aggressively near the top.

From a fellow Weegie too! It seems odd that the top of the clip might be overpolished, and the bottom left unpolished. Hmmm.

This condition actually makes perfect sense to me, as these clips typically show the most brassing on the shank at the top, and so that's where the most aggressive buffing would be directed. I don't agree, by the way, that the bottom has been left unpolished, only that it has not been buffed to the extent that the stamping has been eradicated. The entire pen appears to have been subjected to heavy polishing.
