I missed this tweet yesterday during a woot off. I got so sick of the umpteen thousand woot-off tweets that I finally unfollowed woot-off. Then Twitter was down. Now Twitter is back up and I see this announcement from yesterday!

https://twitter.com/JetPens/status/228220409542238208

"Product alert Lamy Accent http://ow.ly/cv0N1 has been discontinued by the manufacturer, only 3 pcs left on JetPens!"

Not that I ever cared for the Lamy Accent, but for those of you who like that pen or have been sitting on the fence, they won't be as easily available soon.

The prices for them in Canadian stores is ridiculously high .....I found one Canadian online store that is *only* charging 50% more (yes, 50 percent more) than what JetPens is charging...and the brick & mortar stores in town (Vancouver) are charging at least double what you can get them for in the U.S., which is ridiculous given that the pen is made in Germany....:tsk:

I own an Accent ballpoint (used, bought on eBay for cheap), but the pricing discrepancy for this pen really irked me and I don't think I will buy one now :(

Poor ol'Canada only being charged 50% more. Australia's RRP are 100%+ on Lamy US prices considering our dollar is above parity.

Here is Lamy product update from KMPN.

Bogon07------well, Canada is a tiny bit closer to the U.S.A than you are in Oz, so I'm allowed to be a wee bit ticked off, LOL! :jester:

But seriously, I have a pen friend in Oz who complains about local pen store prices and they are tremendously high. It's just odd to me how much cheaper a German pen is in the U.S. vs. Canada. I want to support our brick & mortar stores here in Vancouver and I will take a hit on some pens (ie. pay more, just to support them), but the Accent won't be one of 'em.

Maja it must be really galling to see those lower prices just across the border.
In today's global economy and the internet I can see why these companies persist with their regionalisation of pricing and availability of products. It doesn't improve any company's reputation to be seen to actively overcharge their customers in particular countries.

Just to clarify, the Accent as a model is not being discontinued, just the black with the palladium/silver grip.

I didn't realize the Accent Briarwood was going to be discontinued too - good for us to know! :-p

I would have snapped up a briarwood but I need the money for my next Edison. :)

Another Edison !!!

The Briarwood Accent does look especially nice in the photos where the barrel and grip look all glossy and shiny but not quite so alluring in the photos where seems more like a dull satin.

After the photos of the Imperial Blue Studio I've become rather wary about some of Lamy's products.

Yeah, another Edison but it will be a while. The fpgeeks covert ops has me intrigued
