Hi Geeks,

The snorkel next to a salvaged (http://pensible.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/sheaffers-snorkel-restoration/) Aussie specimen. They are the same colour and model, so before I mailed the former to my brother as his bday pressy, I took these pictures for your enjoyment..

You need to fix your link.

Is it an illusion, or is the Aus Snorkel longer than the US one?
I am going to have to dig out my Sheaffers and check for differences.

Done.

While you're at it, take a pic?

Nice spread Tony !! I've been unable to find any literature that specifically relates to Aust. Snorkels ( or Sheaffer Aust. pens overall) but there is a distinct possibility that a lot of parts where made in the US and assembled here to avoid duties etc. There are a few minor difference, production was a couple of years later starting it seems in '54 and ran longer to ~'62, a gold tube and late section is found and probably a first run feature, nibs are often "softer" and broader than their US twins and to date I've not seen any in the late US colours but have seen a few with matching sections. The Crest seems the top of the range fully marked as Aust. Still there's something nice about the local connection and an interesting area to dabble in !! My little collection below.

Regards
Hugh

There's a topic on Aust. Snorkels here somewhere.
