Guess who joined me for lunch?
I have some fruit in my room at lunchtime, and Ozzie (the Osprey) as I've christened him, regularly joins me for lunch. He is less than a yard from my window, perched on the balcony. If I try to open the balcony window he flies off. So I have to stand right next to the glass window and manually focus to get these shots of him. It is so exciting for me to be so close to a wild Osprey. Magical moments in Florida.

Re: Guess who joined me for lunch?
Perchance did Ozzie bring any fish to lunch? (Very nice shot, BTW.)
Re: Guess who joined me for lunch?
That's so very cool! Thanks for sharing Ozzie's picture!

Have you read H is for Hawk? I enjoyed it very much and recommend it.

He did once. Thankfully it was already headless, and he didn't leave a mess afterwards. :) (And thank you for the comment)

I haven't, but I will look and see what it's about. And thank you. :)

A memoir by a British woman who, while grieving over the death of her father, takes on the task of trying to "train" the wildest of the hawks: the goshawk. Very well written.

I read it; TSherbs is right that it's wonderful. Helen McDonald is the author.
Re: Guess who joined me for lunch?
Great pictures! Ozzie Airborn, biting the heads off of fish, sounds like an old rockstar.
Re: Guess who joined me for lunch?
Amazing photo not everyone get a chance to make. :)

Thank you. :) We've been back to the same hotel, and the same room, and he's been back on the same balcony since these pictures were taken. We haven't been back there since hurricane Irma hit the hotel, but we'll find out next year if Ozzie is still around.

I was about to buy this book from Amazon, then a TV show came on all about the author who actually trained another Goss hawk. It was excellent and showed all of the training. Then 'H for Hawk' went up in price. I wanted to buy the hardback version rather than the Kindle version because I thought there might be some pictures in there, and they are better in a printed book.
I still have it in my cart but I haven't bought it yet.
Re: Guess who joined me for lunch?
That second "lunch" photo is so primordial. "Nature red in tooth and claw..."
Amazing, thank you.

You're welcome. :) You're right, that's what he has to do to survive. As well as trying to eat his own lunch, he has his this years young telling him that they are hungry, from other buildings and balconies.
