Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
Hi. Can i get contact of any authentic and reliable person for repairing my waterman 7 lever and sac , it's a wonderful pink nib and do i need to send the nib as well? Im slightly reluctant in trusting anyone without reference from the community. I live in Middle East so parting from my beloved pen gives me jitters ;). Kindly help needed to find a trustworthy and skilled person ( being economical is ++).https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7969a780a8.jpg

Do you have a replacement lever box?
How much is in your economical budget to repair the pen?
Re: Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
Ron Zorn has generic lever boxes that the original lever can be moved to the new box, and he does the repair. Brad Torelli has the skill to repair or fabricate a lever box. You cannot be in a hurry. These craftsmen are in demand and their repair queues can be months long. If you just want to buy the part, Bob Novak has N.O.S. Waterman lever boxes from time to time. There are others, but these should get you started.

By the way, you could retain the section and the cap, and just send the barrel in order to limit the impact of any loss in the post.
Re: Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
Just finding a barrel with good lever box might also be an option.

Be forewarned: removal of a Waterman lever box by a novice can easily lead to what appears in the OP's photo. I remember my first...:faint:

Lutz Fiebig in Germany would be another option which is nearer to your location. www.interpens.de
Re: Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
I don't have an idea about the prices of repair because up until now, fortunately i never had to send any. I don't have any replacement lever. I got this pen in an online auction. It was all jamed, i think there was some plastic sheath or covering around the feed in section which was already broken into to pieces or may be it was old sac which was so rigid thay it seemed like plastic pieces cause there was no sign of sac apart from these small ink covered broken brittle plastic pieces. I used it as dip pen and it was wonderful.

I tried to remove the section from barrel but it's stuck and flush with the barrel. I got this pen in an online auction. It was all jamed, i think also there was some plastic sheath or covering around the feed in section which was already broken into to pieces or may be it was old sac which was so rigid thay it seemed like plastic pieces cause there was no sign of sac apart from these small ink covered broken brittle plastic pieces. I tried to take to out the feed which came out without much fuss. I used it as dip pen and it is wonderful.

Re: Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
When the sac is old it gets rigid and prevents the lever from moving. Often the sac will break up into pieces that, yes, seem like parts of a plastic cylinder.
Re: Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
Pressing against a petrified sac can cause the lever box to fracture at the lever pivot.
I suggested buying a complete barrel with lever box to avoid needing to ship the pen. You could simply move the cap and section but you also need a sac.

Thanks..Yeah i think the same thing happened. I can't take the barrel off from the section as it's flush jamed with barrel so much that it seems like a single piece. Any tip for separating them?

Thanks seems so..i was afraid that some thin plastic covering or sheath might have been there around the feed which broke.

I donˋt see the point why he should buy a complete barrel?
Also the direction he’s pointed to seems for me questionable.
Obviously he has no experience in repairing vintage pens, nevertheless everybody seems to recommend to play arround by himself, by advising, remove this, do that, try,......
For me the clean way for him is to get in touch with a skilled repairman, discuss the problems with him, send the whole pen to him and afterwards receive the full restored pen back in perfect writing condition.
Re: Waterman ideal 7 lever repair and sac installation
Simply moving the cap, section, feed and nib to a good barrel with a good leverbox and pressure bar could have meant there was no need to send the pen minus nib and feed to a repair person to install the leverbox.
The cost of a barrel with intact lever may be price comparable to the other option
