Can't convince myself of the color of this pen. Is it a non-faded army brown or dubbonet red?
I am searching for a replacement barrel, but wanted to be sure on the color.

The broken threads are from the body and should give you a hint....it looks brown to me.
Okay, the pictures I have seen of army brown have been much darker.

Depending on the lighting, etc. colors will look different. I also believe the color of the dome on the cap corresponds with the barrel color as well....I'm only aware of Army Brown, but I don't claim to know everything about Eversharp Skylines. I"m sure there are many other folks out there who know more.
In any case, that's a real nice clean looking cap ya got there.

Yeah the whole pen looked that way, almost like it had never been used, even had a sac in it. I got it from an elderly woman who said it was here uncle's. I never could get the nib to write even after knocking the nib and feed out and back in. It wouldn't even work for a dip test. Breather tube and feed were cleaned and while putting the section back in, with just a small amount of pressure the barrel snapped. It makes me sick because like I said, everything looks brand new on it.Quote:

The Gap between the feed and the nib is too far... do a paper tests between the nib and the feed and see if the gap is too large to support wicking the ink.
And unlikely third possibility is a "baby's bottom" at the tip. I say unlikely because the Skyline nibs were known for being inspected and tested at the factory. This does not rule out some well meaning person attempting to polish the nib and ruining the profile on the bottom of the nib.
As for color, I find most cameras get a truer rendition of the color when dark colored bodies (dark brown, dark blue, dark green, dark grey) are photographed against a flat black background. The automatic color balance feature in most modern cameras can be a real pain.
