Pelikan 500 assistance requested
Hello!! Short story on me, I was a fountain pen head and die hard Pelikan admirer. I had a decent collection and seemingly overnight, my life changed. I sold almost all my belongings (which included my pen collection, I kept a few) and the rest got put into storage for about 5 or so years. I am finally back in a place to be able to get back to it, and I want to try to rebuild a little of my collection.
I recently found a Pelikan 500 body which is why I am here today.
It doesn’t have a nib or a cap, but I happen to have an old nib that should fit.
Would an M200 cap fit the threads? If not I have an old brown dome cap that I could pull the inner cap liner on.
I’m currently waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
But my thought is to use an M200 cap for the clip, inner cap liner and the Pelikan logo cap nut (not sure the actual name of it) and put all into a cut price of brass tube.
Would that work?
Re: Pelikan 500 assistance requested
I just checked my Pelikan 500 and all the caps from these pens will fit: M200/205, M400 and 100N.
Re: Pelikan 500 assistance requested
How about an M250, M700 or an old-style M600? (I buy all my Pelikans in this size.)

Will they fit a Pelikan 500?

A regular 400's cap will fit.
As mentioned a 200/250's cap fits. Cheapest would be a used 200 and it should if a tear drop tipping be a grand springy regular flex nib.
A semi-flex nib would be what is wanted in the end.
Mine is a pure signature nib, an eyeballed OBBB, in because of the rolled gold piston cap, one don't get a nib marking on the pre-55 Pelikans on the piston cap. Before 1955's 400N on the whole you don't get a size marked nib.
I do have a nib marked transition 400, that I think is rare.
The 500 is a maxi-semi-flex with a 30 degree grind.
To write a 15 letter legal signature takes up 2/3rds to 3/4ths a page. Which makes that nib too big for use.

Congratulation on finding a Pelikan 500. I also have a set (pen and pencil) and they are they are so beautiful. To my mind they are the king of Pelikans, great nibs, great function, and wonderful to see and hold.
