Please help: which ink is this?
I’ve inked one of my Twsbis with a blue ink a long time ago and have forgotten which ink I used.
It’s a very well behaved dark blue ink with a lovely red sheen to it and I want to put it into one of my broad Viscontis. Well - if I remembered which one it was…
I know I may be asking quite a bit but can anyone wager a bet? I’ve got quite a few Troublemaker and Robert Oster inks but I can’t seem to find this one.
Help greatly appreciated!
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
Sorry but it's a blue ink. There are literally hundreds that it could be. :( Hopefully you don't have too many that it potentially could be.
I suggest you get a nice fountain pen friendly notebook plus all of the blue inks you have. Then one by one take small swabs of each ink with a cotton bud as well as taking one swab from the filled TWSBI. Then pick the one that looks closest to the ink in the TWSBI to fill your Visconti with.
Oh and don't forget to write down in your notebook what pens you currently have filled with what inks so you don't need a good memory. :)
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
As it’s been in your TWSBI for a long time I’m willing to bet it has changed since you filled the pen. I have Troublemaker Simoun and it looks similar, albeit a slightly lighter shade. Do you have Simoun?
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
The same happened to my Monteverde Blue Horizon and it has now a nice sheen ;)
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
Isn’t horizon blue SUPPOSED to have sheen?.., i thought it was a near perfect copy of PPS?…
(Still on my “too buy” list)

Lots of it. The bottle rim literally glows ruby.

Oh then, my bad... I didn't notice it until when I had used half of the bottle :o
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
btw, if you let current (2019 bottle) Parker Quink Blue Black sit and evaporate a little, even it will sheen red!
blew my freaking mind
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
Thanks all!
I wasn’t at all aware of inks developing sheen over time.
I don’t have TM Simoun. I of course tried all my inks to find the one before posting here but got nowhere. :(
I’ll try @Chrissy’s suggestion when I find the time.

I keep a (really bad/cheap, "freeby I got at a conference with terrible paper") notebook JUST for this. It is literally labelled "Inked Pens"
It is filled with entries that look like this:
Pen: TWSBI Eco White 1.1MM
Ink: Noodler's Lexington Grey
Date: 01 Jan '21
Cleaned: 02 Feb '21
Pen: WS 601 Flighter GT
Ink: Skrip Turquoise
Date: 15 Jan '21
Cleaned:
On the day I clean a pen, I write that down, and then cross off the entire entry
Then when I ink a new pen up, I write out it's entry
Alternatively, there are these: https://vanness1938.com/collections/...inked-notebook
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
I have a Seven Seas Writer Journal and in the back of it have written a few pages alphabetically for each pen brand that I have and in each section I have various pens in those brands that I regularly ink. Therefore I can always keep the regularly inked pen as the title at the top of it's own page and write below on one line the ink plus the date it's filled. Then I can cross out that line when that ink is emptied and write a new line for the next ink. :)
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
Sound advice from Chrissy.
Re: Please help: which ink is this?
I just scribble a line in the back of my current journal with ink, pen, and a checkmark when cleaned.
