To Glue or not to glue - that is the question
I recently acquired a vintage 256 Gold Starry, mottled hard rubber. It is an eyedropper pen and retractable. After the purchase, I noticed that the end cap controlling the retraction mechanism is broken off the main rod. The nib still retracts and goes back in place as the cap is turned, which is good. The issue is that with the cap and rod separated, it is hard to apply enough force to get the desired fit so the ink won't leak out.
Should I leave well enough alone? Should I glue the cap onto the rod? What kind of glue is recommended? I'm not sure what kind of material the rob is made from.
Thoughts? Opinions?
Thanks,
Danny

I wouldn't even think about gluing without taking the shaft out of the knob. The glue might not hold on the break, but could very well hold inside the knob - and you'd never get it apart again.

Absolutely valid points. Concerns I have toyed with and part of the reason why I posted this. I am leaning towards live with it.
