The FP Geeks Themed Sketch
This is the resurrection of of the themed sketch, however we will be working monthly.
Here is your challenge: at the beginning of each month, a theme will be posted. Anyone whom wants to participate makes one or more sketches of their interpretation of the theme during the month. You can post one, or one each day, or all at once - it's up to you. If you can't post it during the month, that's OK, too. The purpose is to get folks to draw, create and have some fun.
As far as medium, though pen and ink are encouraged, you can use pencil, watercolor, charcoal, crayon, or digital media. I would encourage you to occasionally get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Think you can't draw -- BS! Anyone can draw, and we want many of you to play along, so please give it a shot.
There is no right or wrong way to interpret a theme, so think outside the box. Likewise, there are no prizes, other than the self satisfaction you get from creating a work of art. So come on in and enter a sketch or two.
Since there will be a total solar eclipse in North America, later this month (and I am in North America) the first theme, for August 2017 will be SUN. So let's light up this place.
Re: The FP Geeks Themed Sketch
I will try to keep up. :)
Re: The FP Geeks Themed Sketch
No worries. Have fun with it.

Very nice. I have a few in mind and will start on them tonight.

Noodler's Black and Noodler's Rattler Red Eel; Dip pen with Speedball B6 nib.
I love this style of art but am still learning about it. There are differences in the details of the various geographic areas of the region; I've blended a few of them here.

Nice!
I had the same idea as you did here before settling on the Sundial above.
The sun as depicted by various tribes and cultures around the world is worthy of a study in itself.
Re: The FP Geeks Themed Sketch
Yes it is . . . I have another planned, though it is really complex. It is also interesting how some older cultures interpreted a solar eclipse.
Re: The FP Geeks Themed Sketch
Ok here is my first input using soft pastel chalks.

Well, if you don't mind me giving this a go, although I can't promise to be a faithful participant never mind an artistic one!
My attempt at a "sun in splendour". Note to self: Patience, grasshopper!

Inspired by Ptero's use of pastel chalks, here is my first attempt at working with pastels (Derwent Pastel Crayons and Faber Castell soft Pastel blocks).

Today´s scribbling.
I´m not satisfied how the white drawing ink finally looks, I wanted to create a white halo, but it turned out looking just gray.....

Awesome, folks!
I just got home a couple hours ago from a short trip that started off bad and seemed to last forever. I'll try to sketch a little tonight.
