Ink Review: Diamine Graphite ink
Today I'm reviewing Diamine Graphite ink.
Graphite is a grey ink from the standard range. For me it wrote darker than a regular HB pencil. I would call it a dark grey ink. I used a Lamy Safari pen with M nib with a filled converter.
It flowed very well and lubrication at the nib tip exhibited a little feedback. I enjoyed writing with it despite not being a great fan of grey inks.
It seems to lean slightly green and that makes it completely different to the more blueish/purplish shade of Diamine Earl Grey and the lighter shade of Diamine Silver Fox.
- Flow Rate: Very good.
- Lubrication: OK - some feedback noticed.
- Nib Dry-out: Not noticed.
- Start-up: Immediate.
- Saturation: Not saturated.
- Shading Potential: Not much shading seen.
- Show-Through:
- Clairefontaine Matris lined pad
- Oxford,80gsm lined pad
- Rhodia Dot Pad
- Tomoe River 52gsm paper
- Maruman Mnemosyne pad
- Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Not seen.
- Nib Creep / “Crud”: Not seen.
- Staining (pen): Easy to clean out.
- Staining (hands): Clean after one wash.
- Clogging: Not seen. Seems unlikely.
- Water resistance: Not sold as waterproof and shows no water resistance.
- Availability: Available from Diamine Inks web-site and many other outlets.

Re: Ink Review: Diamine Graphite ink
Very thorough review as always. You are my go-to person for inks as you cover all the bases.
What's interesting is I read your reviews for inks I'd never use.
Cheers and thanks.

Hi,
great review of a very nice green-black ink.
Do you / or one of the other ink lovers have Pilot Hoteison at hands to compare?
Best

You're welcome Jens.
Sadly I don't have Pilot Iroshizuku Hoteison to compare. To be honest I don't have many grey inks. :(

I've used (someone else's) Hoteison - to me it is a very dark green, not a grey. Darker and less yellow than the above.
